5 Best bar fishing baits – March 2025

Mars is there.

The Bass Pro Tour of Major League tour is officially two stages, during this time, the Bassmaster Elite Tour is in the middle of its own second stage this weekend in the “inner sea”, Lake Okeechobee in Florida.

Here in the Wisconsin where I live, we have always come out of fishing on the ice, but after the hot front of this week, it fades fairly quickly. I hope that we can come back to the water in the coming weeks, but with the stockings being always quite cold, it can take a little more time … especially further north.

But once the ice comes off, the bass will always be in winter models with water temperatures below 45 degrees, but when you move further south to the Gulf, we will see fish at the same time from and in Frai. And for some of you, you will fish the pre-Pulsales at the beginning of the month, and the bass will be on the beds at the end.

Most of these bait recommendations should work fairly well in most lakes and rivers across the country, but if you are further south, you may want to jump a month, and if you are in the north, see February.

So, without further delay, take a look at some of the best bass baits that will play across the country, for the month of March. As always, each bait, rod or reel on the list here is something that I have and fishing regularly, or that I have used in the past and that I can recommend.

Safe

A crankbait without laundry is great at this time of year, especially if you are on a lake where grass is present. At the beginning of the month, I like Yo-Yo my recovery near this grass, moving quite slowly with recovery, but when the water warms up, I will start tearing it out on the top of a shallow water dish. In really cold water, just after leaving the ice, you can burn it in shallow mud berries or parallel to the bank, and the bass Martelera absolutely.

Chatter

The chatterbait is perhaps the most popular pre-transparent bait in bass fishing, and for a good reason … it becomes just bitten. In addition, most fishermen like to use it, and it can be thrown in and around a wide variety of structure and roofing. With most of the country, or towards, the pre-enjeux, a vibrant size will be a battle horse for the next few months.

I wrote a whole Chatterbaits fishing guide here, And also about my Favorite trails here, But we all know that the persistent Z-Man hammer is the ultimate in vibrating templates. The EVO is a cheaper alternative, and there is a new Evo Tungstten model which is quite cool too … gives a little of its different from that of the picker hammer.

Jerkbait

A jerkbait is a must of cold water, on which I linked about the year. I like to use a 6 ′ 8 ″ Baitcaster (St. Croix Victory), but many fishermen, even some professionals, will throw them on a rotation rod. It is quite standard to use a fluorocarbon of 10 or 12 pounds, then depending on your type of lake, you will want to look for long dots, steep starts, bluff walls and stream channels. Wherever you can find transitions, deep pockets, and of course, if you have a sonar face to face … do Make it easier.

Shallow crankbait

There are so many types of crankbaits, that you can probably launch them every month of the year, but right now, I like to look towards a cross -front crankbait or a must.

Jig

You really can’t go wrong with a template at any time of the year, but until they get closer to the beds, I generally prefer to turn a template on any type of flexible plastic. But while the bass continues to pass the Frai, you can jump a template around the quays or turn it over in the layoffs and the piles of brush, or even the steep rock banks. Use a trailer or anything with little or no action. Green pumpkine or more natural colors in light water, black and blue or dark colors in dirty water, or you can also throw orange colors.
