A food truck will offer Belgian-style fries and dips

HUNTINGBURG, Ind. – Fans of gourmet fries will want to head to Friedman Park in Newburgh for the next Party in paradise on September 30, because a new Huntingburg food truck called Stix Dip will serve real hand-cut and double-fried Belgian fries alongside other dippers with gourmet homemade sauces.

The owners are Susan Stout and Trefin Luker. The ladies met through their husbands, Andy Stout and Tim Luker, who are friends who grew up in Huntingburg. When the families decided to move closer to family, Susan and Trefin began thinking about what type of business they could start together. They laughed at the idea of ​​having a food truck, but the idea took root.

Trefin spent part of his military childhood stationed in Belgium and discovered these incredible Belgian chip shops and carts where fries are sliced, pre-cooked and crispy to order, then served in a paper cone with a choice of delicious and creative dishes. sauces. She was even able to help the owner of her favorite store cut potatoes. Besides good memories, what’s better than a food truck to treat you?

The Stix

The duo is constantly cutting fresh russet potatoes and partially frying the fries to soften the inside without browning the outside. Once the partially cooked fries have cooled, they are finished in hot oil to make them crispy and golden on the outside, hot and soft on the inside. A few other fun dips such as pepperoni pizza stix in egg roll wrappers, mozzarella cheese stix, and pickle stix are also offered. However, it’s the fries and dips that will always take center stage.

Dips

Regular ketchup and ranch dip are always available, and each day will bring a different creative red and white sauce, sometimes created to match an event’s theme.
