A huge fast food chain with over 500 branches will close its ‘wonderful’ site in a few days

FAST-food fans are heartbroken after a major chain announced the abrupt closure of a “wonderful” branch.

Burger King bosses have confirmed that one of its restaurants on Broadway in Bradford, West Yorkshire, is to close.

The branch, which opened alongside the shopping centre in 2015, will close on July 26, the Telegraph & Argus reported.

A spokesperson for The Broadway said: “We can confirm that Burger King will close on July 26.

“We will be announcing new fashion and beauty retailers in the coming weeks.”

It comes as construction work is underway for a drive-thru branch of Burger King on Harrogate Road, Eccleshill.

A Burger King spokesperson said: “We can confirm that our restaurant in Broadway, Bradford, will close.

“However, we are pleased to announce that customers can enjoy Burger King at our new restaurant in Eccleshill, Bradford, which opens next month.

“We will contact you soon with more information about the new opening.”

In October 2023, Burger King revealed plans to open 30 new restaurants by the end of the year.

Burger King launched its expansion by opening five new locations in October.

The company said it has long-term plans to open 60 restaurants in total over the next two years.

McDonald’s Biggest Hamburger Makeover in Decades

In 2022, the restaurant chain opened 32 new restaurants owned by Burger King UK and also acquired 74 from its largest franchise partner, Karali Group.

It has also modernised 32 restaurants, including its flagship Leicester Square restaurant, and said it would complete 10 more by the end of 2023, including Manchester Piccadilly and Thorpe Park.

The company reported a “resilient performance” and said total revenue increased 39% in 2022.

Major retail chains offer free coffee

A major coffee shop chain is removing free drinks from its paid loyalty program as part of a subscription overhaul.

Club Pret at Pret a Manger currently costs £30 a month, or £360 a year, and members can get five free hot or iced drinks prepared by a barista every day.

The program also offers 20% off the rest of the food and beverage menu.

But under changes coming in September, subscribers will now get 50% off five barista-prepared drinks per day.

Discounts on the food menu under this program will also end.

At the same time, the price of the programme will drop to £10 per month – with a reduced rate of £5 per month available until the end of March 2025.

Angry customers took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to criticize the move.

One follower said: “Tell me I’m going to cancel like I think many others will!!! Shame on you.”

Another added: “Pret changed their subscription to five drinks at 50% off instead of five free drinks… it just ruined my day.”

A third said: “This is a very sad day for coffee lovers.”

Meanwhile, Burger King is bringing back a popular item that recently left McDonald’s menu.

The salty snack left Burger King’s menu late last year, but due to popular demand, it’s now making a comeback.

Halloumi fries are back on April 23, and for the first time, they’re available to order on Uber Eats.

The announcement has delighted fans of the cheese crisps and comes just in time to prevent them from going into a complete meltdown when Maccies stops producing fries.
