African cultural festival 2024: gastronomy, music, culture, fashion
For the first time in years, Milwaukee residents can celebrate African culture during an ethnic and cultural showcase at Brown Deer Park this July. This year’s celebration includes a day full of traditional African art, curated music, culinary tastings and a dance demonstration.
Three women have come together to bring the African Cultural Festival back to the Milwaukee area and hope it will share culture with the community and also help raise money for programs for African refugees.
“This event is about truly sharing the culture and contributions of indigenous Africans to our economic, social, political and cultural fabric of Milwaukee,” said Yollande Tchouapi, one of the organizers. “Milwaukee is stronger when diversity is highlighted and when the vibrancy of our city is shared.”
