A Lancaster man performed a magic trick for the judges of “America’s Got Talent” on an episode that aired Tuesday night.
Jonathan Burns, 42, performed a magic trick in front of judges Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara on stage. Burns lives in Lancaster and graduated from Millersville University in 2004.
“Lancaster, Pennsylvania, is Amish country, that’s why I came here to Hollywood,” Burns said before his audition. “It’s hard to go viral when most of the people around you don’t have internet.”
In his “America’s Got Talent” routine, Burns asked Klum and Vergara to each count out 10 slices of cheese. He then asked them to hide the cheese in a secret location. Klum chose her breast, and Vergara later did the same.
Burns’ goal was to transfer two slices of cheese from Klum’s stash to Vergara’s without touching either. Instead, he used a “magic wand.”
When Klum removed the cheese slices from her breast, she only had eight left. Vergara had 12.

“First of all, I think you’re a great comedian, you’re a magician, you have a great personality, and it’s exciting that we finally found Waldo,” judge Howie Mandel said, gesturing to Burns’ attire, which included a red and white striped shirt.
“I think your daughters will be proud of you,” Mandel said. “It was amazing.”
Vergara says Burns is “adorable.” Klum and Vergara say the act got better when they got on stage.
“I love that you brought something new to America’s Got Talent,” Klum said. “I think it’s very memorable.”
Judge Simon Cowell said he liked Burns but was unsure whether his film would win the competition, so he voted against Burns’ entry for the next stage of auditions.
Mandel and Klum immediately said yes. Vergara was hesitant but ultimately voted to send her to the next round.
This wasn’t Burns’ first time on America’s Got Talent. He performed a contortionist routine during an audition in 2019. He has also appeared on other television shows, including The Late Show with David Letterman, The Jay Leno Show, and The Late Late Show with James Corden.
