Aspetar joins the global study on the intermittent fasting of Ramadan in athletes

In collaboration with an international team of researchers and scientists, Aspetar, Orthopdic and Sports Medicine Hospital, announced the completion of the largest and complete study to date on the effects of the intermittent fasting of Ramadan (RIF) on the training, nutrition and mental health of athletes.

According to his press release, Aspetar said that the study, entitled “A global study, studying training, nutrition and mental health of athletes during intermittent Ramadan fasting: knowledge, beliefs and practices interviewed of athletes in more than 50 countries and six continents”, marks an important stage in sports science research.

He added that this revolutionary research is distinguished by its unprecedented scale, involving 3,000 athletes of more than 50 countries on six continents. This in -depth scope offers a really global perspective on the impact of RIF on sports performance, which makes it the most complete study of this type to date.

The press release continued that the diversity of participants pool is another key characteristic of the study. Athletes of various levels of competition have been included, including world, international, national, state and recreational class athletes. This wide range guarantees that the results are applicable at different levels of sporting performance.

Aspetar said that the study was led by an estimated team of researchers, in particular: Dr. Jad Adrian Washif of Malaysia and Professor Karim Chamari, a renowned expert in sports science and medicine in Qatar.
