Baguettes bring traditional Vietnamese street dishes in Hutto
In 2022, Hutto’s food scene developed with a small food trailer serving a powerful flavor of the names of the chopsticks. The Vietnamese Street Restaurant has grown with the support of the community with a site of brick and mortar, which offers specialized cuisine rare to find in the region.
How we got here
The owner Tuan Nguyen worked in a range of kitchens in Vietnam and the United States before deciding to open the catering truck in 2022.
The corporate idea came to him after hearing the complaints of his friends concerning hunting for different cuisine in Vietnamese and Chinese restaurants and to find the same dishes listed on the menus.
“We are trying to contribute more value to community neighbors,” said Nguyen. “We bring unique articles that cannot be found anywhere else.”
The background
Nguyen was inspired by her childhood and young adult in Vietnam for the restaurant menu. As a student, he said that he could not afford a lot with his tight budget and turned to street food for meals.
“Street food was affordable at the time,” said Nguyen. “It is not expensive … The size is not that big to last all day, but it would help you get started without starving.”
Nguyen said that he was currently looking for a space to house the restaurant’s catering truck which is currently not in service. He hopes to find a space in Austin proper to extend the customers of the restaurant.
On the menu
Customers can enjoy a variety of Vietnamese street food options, beef mango and firecracker shrimp with Hu Tieu Go soup and signature wings.
After going from a food trailer to a brick and a mortar, Nguyen said that he could have added more variety to the dishes offered, including rabbit pudding – a soft pudding in the shape of rabbits filled with fresh strawberries and kiwi.
The most popular menu element of the company is Spareribs Bowl, said Nguyen. The dish has four coasts of slow glass cooked pork in an Asian barbecue sauce, served with one side of white rice and sautéed Brussels germs.
Nguyen said that the location attracts a range of regular customers who know items outside the menu and asks him to add more Vietnamese specialties to the offers, which he plans to materialize over time.
“The Vietnamese continue to ask:” Can you add this to your menu? “” He said. “I always say,” Yes, be patient. At some point in the future, I will certainly do it because I also like these foods and I like your recommendations. “”
Nguyen said the Hutto community was nothing less than the unique restaurant and cooking they serve. He hopes to continue to bring his culture to the city thanks to tasty experiences.
