BBC Breakfast is taken off air and the political show changes channel in a huge schedule shake-up
BBC Breakfast was pulled from the schedule on Sunday, shocking viewers.
The show, which airs seven days a week, was axed on BBC One while Ben Boulos, 40, was the presenter.
BBC Breakfast is hosted by a host of different presenters each week and usually airs until 9am every Sunday.
But at 8am, Ben bid farewell to viewers, saying: “That’s all from us for today on Breakfast.
“We will be back tomorrow morning from 6am – enjoy your weekend.
“Goodbye for now.”
As coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympics began on the channel, it meant another schedule change for Sunday’s usual political show.
Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg has been moved to BBC Two, while retaining the same start time of 9am.
On Saturday, fans faced similar TV disruptions, with Naga Munchetty’s BBC Breakfast show being taken off air two hours early.
Earlier this year, Ben was taken off screen for an entire month following a host shakeup.
Earlier this year, the Leicestershire native jetted off on an adventure-packed trip across the United States, taking in New York, New Orleans and Washington DC.
Meanwhile, this weekend, Saturday Kitchen viewers were also left irritated after realising that not only had the show changed channels to accommodate sports coverage, but the episode wasn’t actually live.
Instead of broadcasting a live show, the program’s makers chose to rebroadcast a summary of the best moments from the past months.
It was dubbed Saturday Kitchen’s Tastiest Treats and featured recipes from chefs including Gennaro Contaldo, Yotam Ottolenghi and Paul Ainsworth.
But a similar scenario could play out next week.
Who are the current BBC Breakfast presenters?
The BBC’s flagship show has had dozens of presenters over its 40 years on air, but the current stars include:
After this weekend’s episode, the Saturday Kitchen page on X posted a message that read: “Next Saturday, we’re bringing you some of the funniest and most entertaining moments from #SaturdayKitchen!
“Join us next Saturday at 10am on @BBCTwo to see what’s included!”
The schedules were disrupted due to the first day of coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, following performances by Lady Gaga on the banks of the Seine as well as Celine Dion during the opening ceremony.
BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One and iPlayer.
