BBC Breakfast presenter returns after presenting shake-up – after new role outside show revealed

This morning it was business as usual on BBC Breakfast.

Jon Kay mysteriously disappeared from the sofa yesterday while Sally Nugent was presenting the show with Ben Thompson.

However, the flagship breakfast show has returned to its usual line-up of hosts following a presenter shake-up.

Jon, 54, appeared to be in fine fettle as he reunited with Sally, 52, on the iconic BBC Breakfast sofa.

The TV personality appeared to be in a summer mood as he wore a light sand-coloured suit complemented by a bold art deco patterned tie.

Sally wore a stylish navy jumpsuit as she presented the latest news and BBC updates.

It comes after the publicly funded company revealed a huge shake-up to its programming.

BBC One will broadcast extensive coverage of the UK general election results from Thursday evening.

A special programme hosted by Clive Myrie and Laura Kuenssberg will be broadcast from 21:55 on the BBC News at one o’clock on Friday.

This means that the usual Friday edition of BBC Breakfast with Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt has been axed.

However, Jon will still be present throughout the morning alongside veteran presenter Sophie Raworth.

He was personally selected by senior executives from BBC Breakfast’s star-studded line-up to be part of this historic coverage.

Morning Live is taken off air due to a major shake-up of the BBC’s programming schedule

This is despite the fact that it does not usually present the flagship Friday programme.

Naga, 49, is also among the names who will be assigned a reporting position at a “key” location on election night.

She will be part of the team alongside big names such as Fiona Bruce, Victoria Derbyshire and Jeremy Vine.

Who are the current BBC Breakfast presenters?

The BBC’s flagship show has had dozens of presenters over its 40 years on air, but the current stars include:
