He announced that it had officially been a year since the news programme began filming at a new location in Salford.

Jon wrote: “Hello from your BBC Breakfast team. It’s a pleasure to have Sarah with us – she’s filling in for Sally this week.

“It was exactly a year ago today that we moved into our beautiful new studio.

“Over the last twelve months our team has interviewed hundreds of guests on the sofa, covered thousands of stories and, last month, invited BBC News at One to join us in Salford.

“Happy birthday studio!”

Jon attached a smiling photo of himself and Sarah Campbell on the famous red sofas to the post.

Viewers flocked to the comments to congratulate the team and share how much they love watching Jon every morning.
