BBQ Apocalypse brings the Miami style barbecue to a whole new level

At the heart of the shopping center in the village of Kendall, the apocalypse barbecue found its permanent house.

The trip of Jeff Bud of the Golf Pop-up Catering Truck resulted in this impressive brick and mortar location that can accommodate 190 guests wanting to taste its award-winning Miami style barbele. The history of the restaurant started five years ago during difficult times.

“2020 during the pandemic. Funny, that is why we call it Apocalypse. Apocalypse, because it was, it was the apocalypse,” said Bud.

Fans “q” align early to have a taste

Only a few weeks after opening their new location, loyal customers are already lining up on Thursday morning before the doors open at 11 a.m.

Anthony Balboa, a barbecue fan, arrived early to secure his place.

“I mean, it’s a special place, even from the previous location,” he shared. “It was a wonderful food, phenomenal food, a phenomenal owner who cares about the community and who just wants to restore.”

The atmosphere of the BBQ Apocalypse revolves around the excellent food and the real connection. Vinyl discs run on plates, playing diversified music that celebrates fun, family and high -level cuisine with a distinctive flavor of Miami, like their popular chicken wings.

“Yeah, these guys are about 5 hours this morning, so about five hours. Now, after six hours, we smoke them with absolute perfection. You can see this wonderful color, all this flavor. They have our Cafecito Frot there,” said Bud.

Cook with love

For Bud, making apocalypse barbecue a cornerstone of the Kendall community is a personal mission.

“We are not in the food sector, we are in the love sector,” he said. “We want it to be a place where you come here, you come to your first appointment, then you come to offer, then you come when you are married, then you bring your children and children (are) to their first appointment.”

Bud’s passion for barbecue emerged from a serious health challenge.

“I was about 22 years old. I received a diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia and I was told that I couldn’t eat to eat,” he said. “I couldn’t really go to restaurants because I was immunocompromised and I said that I could die and if I’m going to die, it won’t be without eating more barbecue, then I’m going to learn to do it.”

“I started cooking in my house and fortunately, I beat cancer, but I also beat ignorance of the barbecue and learned to do very good things, so it became a staple food,” continued Bud.

The Signature Cuisine Sink Tree of the restaurant presents almost the entire menu, with various smoked meats, including an impressive rescue coast.

“It is here the most powerful barbecue cup which is the coast of Dino – we perform every week directly from Jurassic Park,” joked Bud.

The large menu includes burgers, vegetables and even a corn skull recipe from her mother-in-law. The fried wings with smoka with the cafecito ruth are tender, tangy and formidable.

Another out-of-competition point is the chest of a half-pound, which is cooked for 24 hours until it is tender of the bone.

“I’m proud of the fact that you don’t need teeth to eat my beef, right?” Bud proudly declared

For those who plan to visit, the biggest advice is to arrive early.

The apocalypse barbecue opens at 11 a.m. and serves until 9 p.m., but their high quality barbecue is often sold before closing time. For more information, visit their website at Apocalypsebbq.com.
