Brits are furious after discovering the price of their childhood favorite chocolate bar

Britons may remember the iconic Euro Spopper chocolate bar from their school days, wrapped in red packaging and labelled with a retail price of 50p – at least that was the case, until now.

Popping into a corner store on the way home from school is a pastime most of us remember fondly.

With our parents’ change jingling in our pockets, convenience stores were our happy places. It was great to be able to buy snacks and a drink without spending more than a pound.

But the cost of living crisis has hit us hard, sending the price of our favorite treats skyrocketing. And for once, we’re not talking about Freddo, as another popular candy bar appears to have seen its price skyrocket.

The Euro Shopper bar was a cheap alternative to big brands like Cadbury or Galaxy, retailing for 50 cents. It came in red packaging and was available in milk, dark and white chocolate.

Kids who grew up in the 2000s would often grab one, leaving enough for a cheap drink and possibly a bag of Space Raiders, for just over £1. However, those days are long gone.

The children, now adults, were left in shock after discovering the new price. In a video, which has been viewed more than 341,000 times, influencer Andrew Barton (ASB) called it “the very definition of daylight robbery.”

He added: “When I was a kid I always got one of those 50p chocolate bars. You get the milk chocolate, the white chocolate or the dark chocolate. They were all 50p. Life was good. Get two for one piece of money, or you could buy one and a sports drink, spending just a pound.”

However, he warned that the price had “slowly started to climb”. At first it went from 50p to 85p, then to £1, and it didn’t stop there!
