Cadbury offers ‘dream’ chocolate tasting job
Imagine arriving at work and your day’s agenda is filled with chocolate tastings – well, Cadbury makes that dream job a reality.
Mondelez International, the company that owns the famous British confectionery giant, is looking for a new ‘chocolate taster’ to join its team.
The lucky contestant will be paid to sample a variety of chocolatey treats, from brand new bars to cookies and even bites from the share bags.
This isn’t the first time Cadbury has hired taste testers. The company has previously advertised similar roles in Wokingham. But this time, the role is based in the heart of chocolate heaven – Cadbury World in Birmingham. The announcement was made on Sunday (7 July), just in time for World Chocolate Day, sending sweet-toothed fans into a frenzy.
Announcing the role on Cadbury UK’s Instagram page, the company said: “As it’s World Chocolate Day, we’re giving you the unique opportunity to become a chocolate taster! Think you can tick all the boxes?”

The role involves working alongside a panel of tasters, sampling products and providing candid feedback. Candidates should have a keen interest in food, excellent communication skills, a knack for honest criticism and an enthusiasm for trying innovative confectionery.
The main tasks of a chocolate taster are to objectively evaluate chocolate samples, collaborate with a team to agree on flavor profiles, clearly articulate product ideas, and understand the ethical and legal compliance responsibilities associated with the position. The position is part-time, however, and only offers eight hours per week, which could be a perfect side hustle for some.
Potential candidates are warned that any dietary restrictions may disqualify them from the position, as product testing includes items containing dairy, gluten and nuts. One person responding to the job posting joked, “I guess someone has to do it. I’m very tempted.”
Others spoke of a “dream job”, with one saying: “I would love to be a chocolate taster.”
Another respondent shared a nostalgic story about her mother’s experience as a Cadbury chocolate tester: “When my mother was a child, she was a chocolate tester for Cadbury. They would send her chocolates in the post and she would have to write about them. She still has the certificate.”
