Cake Affairs Culinary Arts School Celebrates 44th Class with Grand Ceremony

The Cake Affairs School of Culinary Arts, a leading name in the catering and hospitality industry, celebrated its 44th graduating class on July 28th in a colourful ceremony at the National Theatre.

During the evening, a total of 136 graduates received certificates in cake decorating, event planning, baking and desserts, and cooking, marking a milestone in their culinary journey.

Since its inception, the culinary school has graduated over 5,000 students and operates another branch in Dichemso, Kumasi.

Over the years, the institution has made substantial progress in providing top-notch culinary education and training.

Cake Affairs School of Culinary Arts, founded six years ago, is a subsidiary of Bakes and Tastes, a baking company founded 11 years ago in Ukraine.

Founder and CEO Marian Sagoe started the company while studying for her Masters in Applied Economics at Kharkiv University of Economics in Ukraine.

Speaking at the event, Marian Sagoe shared his motivation for establishing the school and the progress they have made in regularizing their operations.

“I am a young woman driven by my passion for the arts. After graduating with a degree in Pastry, Decorating, Sugar Crafting and Pastry Arts, I decided to help others with similar passions gain an education in this field.

“Our goal is not only to provide education, but also to create employment opportunities so that many people become self-reliant.”

Marian Sagoe highlighted the school’s achievements, including its recent accreditation by the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET).

“As the training center grew, we applied for CTVET accreditation in November 2023 and obtained it in April 2024 after meeting all the requirements.

“We are now fully equipped to train individuals in TVET courses, supporting the government’s objective of advancing technical and vocational education.”

Looking to the future, Marian Sagoe revealed ambitious plans to develop and empower more students now that they have achieved pre-tertiary institution status.

Special guest of honour, Ben Anane Nsiah, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, encouraged the graduating students to focus on character development, reliability and leveraging their skills locally rather than looking for quick ways to move abroad, a trend that is becoming increasingly common.

“If you take seriously the education you have received here, build character and remain honest, you can succeed in Ghana without facing the difficulties and dangers of moving,” he advised.

Mr. Nsiah congratulated the graduating class and stressed that Ghana is a beautiful country that needs the efforts of all to develop.

Attendees at the event, including industry players, family and friends, as well as graduates, were entertained by gospel musician Celestine Donkor and praised Cake Affairs for such a wonderful event.

By nurturing talent and promoting excellence, Cake Affairs School of Culinary Arts continues to have a significant impact on the lives of its students and the broader community.
