Chick-fil-A is no longer America’s best fast food restaurant

PHOENIX — Ditch your chicken sandwiches and grab a taco because there’s a new fast food restaurant among the best in the United States, according to a new ranking from USA Today.

For a decade, Chick-fil-A has reigned supreme among fast food restaurants. But that’s no longer the case for the restaurant famous for using cows to tell customers to “eat more chicken.” Chick-fil-A has fallen from first place to third. The new champion could surprise.

USA Today ranked Del Taco as the best fast food restaurant in the country.

“This popular taco restaurant, which serves all kinds of hearty Mexican dishes, including burritos, quesadillas and nachos, also offers burgers and fries. Additionally, Del Taco offers a dedicated breakfast menu, as well as a vegan and vegetarian menu,” USA Today’s ranking states.

Del Taco has 40 locations across Arizona.

KFC also overtook Chick-fil-A in the rankings, coming in second place thanks to its “finger-licking” chicken that remains America’s favorite.

Following Chick-fil-A in third place, In-N-Out Burger was ranked fourth, Hardee’s/Carl’s Jr. was fifth, Captain D’s was sixth, Taco Bell was seventh, Popeye’s was eighth, Zaxby’s was ninth, and Arby’s rounded out the list in tenth place.

It’s one of several lists of the country’s top 10 restaurants published in recent days by USA Today.

QDOBA Mexican Eats was named the nation’s best fast-casual restaurant, beating Torchy’s Tacos and BurgerFi.

Biscuitville, a chain in Virginia and the Carolinas, won the title of best breakfast restaurant, beating out Del Taco and Jack in the Box.

The best fast food burger went to The Habit Burger Grill’s Double Char, beating out In-N-Out’s Double-Double and BurgerFi’s BBQ Rodeo Burger.

Jollibee won the title of best fast food fried chicken ahead of Pollo Campero and Guthrie’s Chicken.

Del Taco was named the fast food restaurant with the best fries ahead of Jack in the Box and McDonald’s.

Habit Burger Grill’s tempura green beans were named the best fast food side, beating out Golden Chick’s fried okra and Jack in the Box’s onion rings.

El Pollo Loco was named best healthy fast food restaurant ahead of Taziki’s Mediterranean Café and Tropical Smoothie Cafe.

And finally, PrimoHoagies was named best sandwich shop ahead of Subway and Potbelly Sandwich Works.
