Chipotle employee gets angry with customer for reporting bug

Another Chipotle customer found a bug in one of the brand’s many sites.

The TikToker in question, Abby (@_abbypurdy_), posted a video showing an insect wriggling in a container full of cheese.

“You’re blowing this up because I noticed this bug in the cheese at Chipotle and when I reported it the employee gave me an attitude like I put it in there or something ” the TikToker wrote in a text overlay of the video. .

The clip shows a Chipotle food assembly line, with the camera focused on a bin of shredded cheese. Next to it is a pot of guacamole. As the video progresses, it becomes apparent that there is something inside the cheese bin that is moving.

Abby zooms further into the trash can and it appears the bug in question is an earwig. If you’re worried about these little suckers crawling up your face and burrowing into your head, don’t worry, they don’t do that.

According to 4NJPest, earwigs do not feed on the brain matter of humans and animals, nor even on flesh or blood but rather on rotten food: “Despite the myth, earwigs do not seek out ears. They also do not attack directly and have no venom. They use their pincers to defend themselves and will react if caught or stepped on during the night. Their diet of rotten objects means their presence usually occurs after further damage. However, if you start a composting project, be careful not to place it too close to the house.

If the insect in question is very much an earwig, this could mean that there are larvae in or around the area that attract the insects.

Viewers are disgusted

Many other people who viewed Abby’s video thought the virus was also an earwig.

“IS THIS AN EARWIG,” one person asked.

Another wrote: “EARWIG NOOOOOO.”

Someone else thought Chipotle looked pretty messy, writing: “Why is Chipotle so dirty, mine is spotless.” »

Others theorized that it was this lack of cleanliness in a specific area of the restaurant that ultimately attracted the bugs.

“What probably attracts the bugs is their drains,” one wrote. “When I worked there every night, we were supposed to clean the sewers to prevent this.”

How to get rid of earwigs

According to this pest control company, this could very well be the case, as they write that damp environments like dirty pipes filled with bits of rotten food are the ideal environment for earwigs to invade and feast: “The Earwigs like to invade damp areas. You can avoid this by removing the temptation. If you notice leaking pipes or pipes, repair them to avoid attracting earwigs.

And if you have these insects in your own kitchen, before shelling out a ton of money to have a professional come out and assess the situation, you can try this natural solution: “Earwigs can invade pipes when there is stagnant water. in sinks or when pipes are blocked. It’s not possible to keep drains dry, but it is possible to quickly take care of clogged sinks. When the water doesn’t drain quickly, mix two parts white vinegar with one part salt and one part baking soda. Pour it down the sink and let it sit for 24 hours. The mixture will eat away the dirt and can then be rinsed off with boiling water.

Some people say these little pests are a seasonal nuisance.

“Brother, these bugs are in my house and I find them way too much now that it’s summer,” one wrote.

This isn’t the first time Bugs and Chipotle have gone viral together on social media. A number of other TikTok users have uploaded videos of insects crawling around various locations on the Mexican fast-casual chain. The big fear is that these insects could somehow end up in a customer’s food, like this person who had a less than stellar burrito-eating experience.
