Choose your own adventure in Tutti Pizza
Fresh Out of the Oven following 700 King St. is a whole new paradise for pizza and wine from the owners of Femi Oyediran and Miles White wine grafts. Team with Anthony Guerra, founder of Oakwood Pizza Box and St. Pierre Wine in Raleigh, NC, the trio recently opened Tutti next to Graft, seeking to offer a fresh nostalgic pizza experience in Charleston.
“The idea was the old one, New York, Big, Sharpeable (Pizza),” said White. “I have so many memories of eating this style of pizza where you get one, you share it with two or three people and you all fight for fillings. I love all types of pizza, but that’s one of my favorites.”
“Anthony’s pizza (Guerra), in general, is only among the best I had,” said White. “We really want to take what we do very seriously, but we want to have fun by doing it and make it accessible … (we) realize that it would be a very good partnership to bring the know-how of pizzas (from Guerra) here.”
The thin crust pizza (“round” on the menu) or a thicker stove pizza crust (nicknamed “square”) provides the base of red or white sauce and cheese. From there, tutti pizzas offer the perfect base to build depending on your mood – or the choice of wine.
“(We have) always liked the type of food in Biglebrow in Lowbrow where you can get something really delicious, whether it is like a hamburger or a pizza, then live a really incredible experience around him, whether with wine or something else,” said Kirsten Bhattacharyya, who is a box spring at the same time Tutti and Graff.
“We want to open these experiences. I think that a way to do it with wine is to present very accessible and brilliant foods, “she said.
Wine + pizza = perfection
The Tutti wine program offers glass and bottle offers.
Like Graft, Tutti will present biological, biodynamic, low intervention or durable breeding wines on its menu. The Bhattacharyya wine program aims to provide a variety of offers for any choice of pizza.
“It is built to be flexible and fun, and certainly focuses on Italian wines, but is not limited to that,” she said.
To associate with pizza, the Go-To of Bhattacharyya is Pelaverga, a grape from the Piedmont region in Italy.
“There is just something floral and interesting that makes fun to drink in any setting,” said Bhattacharyya. “So I have the impression that if I see it on a menu in any pizza, I will probably get it because I am a monster on this subject.”
Bhattacharyya and White underline that Tutti is a place to come together and simply enjoy the pizza and wine with friends.
“If people want to enter and spend a relaxed night, they can. If they want to come and go wild, they can,” said White. “Graft is like a neighborhood center. (We) want (tutti) feels like a neighborhood pizza … It’s very welcoming and cold, as we are so used to it, “said Bhattacharyya.
