Albuquerque, NM – The Albuquerque Barelas district has a new destination for local entrepreneurs. This is called 4th and Barelas, and he has been in preparation for five years.
He finally opened in March. Kob 4 entered inside for a more in -depth examination of his mission which begins in the kitchen.
“Everyone is very excited for a project that can really contribute and strengthen the neighborhood and the community,” said Rathi Casey, Director of Homewise. “It is a campus where there are the means of subsistence that surround it, 24 hours a day.”
Homewise started this project five years ago with a neighborhood investigation.
“Vocational training programs are really received on the surface of this. So it’s really the inspiration behind the fourth and Barelas,” said Casey.
Then they put the street food institute on board. The Institute teaches people how to manage a successful catering business.
“It’s really always our kind of mission, it is to help people succeed and eliminate as many barriers as possible for them,” said Tina Garcia-Shams, executive director of Street Food Institute. “We have a lot to offer on the educational level, you know, for start -up, for scaling, but at the heart that is really part of a community.”
The Institute works in close collaboration with CNM culinary students. They will be the first in the cuisine of Commissary, then the institute will open it to other entrepreneurs.
“It’s not just a place where you come and do your job, then you leave and that’s it. It is a community here inside this kitchen and outside the doors of this kitchen, and you must be willing to be part of it, “said Garcia-Shams.
There is also a test kitchen for community cooking lessons, an outdoor place and retail spaces where students can sell their products, and a second floor of tenants to support the whole mission.
“Being an entrepreneur is not just about providing the product or service. This is how, how do we think of managing a business? And we therefore hope that the amenities here can help support,” said Casey.
Street Food Institute is now organizing a name for name. There are sponsorship opportunities on the 4th and Barelas Plaza and in the kitchen.
