Hazmat Truckers Prefer Baltimore Tunnels Over 35-Mile Detour Without Key Bridge
Baltimore Banner reporters watched 40 tanker trucks enter the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel for several hours, many of them displaying hazardous materials signs prohibiting truckers from using the tunnels. Some truck drivers admit to removing their signs before entering the tunnels. An accident could be catastrophic, but law enforcement does little to enforce a 35-mile detour. Loudoun County Leads the Way for New Affordable Housing
The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors has voted to rezone a three-acre tract of land in Sterling to allow for up to 80 affordable housing units. In a show of commitment to affordable housing, the board approved the project after six months of review rather than the usual 12 to 18 months. (ABC 7)
A residential neighborhood has developed where Baltimore’s Memorial Stadium once stood
Baltimore’s Memorial Stadium closed in 1997 after more than 70 years of playing games at the venue, but new homes now populate the area between the Waverly and Ednor Gardens-Lakeside neighborhoods. Neighboring church leaders fought to redevelop the area as a residential zone, and it includes low-income affordable housing and a hospice facility that serves people regardless of their ability to pay.
