Dairy Miss shares the facts, recipe from Saint-Patrick | News, sports, jobs

Hello, my name is Julianna Campbell, and I am a dairy miss from the county of Juniata. I want to remind everyone to obtain three portions of dairy products every day.

Incredible dairy facts:

• About 73% of the calcium available in food supply is provided by milk and dairy products.

• dairy farms are located in the 50 states. The best milk producing states are California, Wisconsin, Idaho, Texas and New York.

• Milk arrives at your grocery store within 48 hours of exit from the farm.

• Dairy cows eat approximately 100 to 150 feeding pounds each day.

• Cows are blind in red-green color. They see the world in tones of yellow / brown, blue and gray.

Did you know that just like the United States, the dairy industry in Ireland is strong. Ireland has about 1.5 million dairy cows. The United States has around 9.3 million. As it is Saint-Patrick, I wanted to share a fun recipe with you for the holidays.
