WELCOME TO DIRTBAG TEA CAFE IN ORANGEVILLE WHERE THEY HAVE CUSTOM TEAS. UNIQUE THINGS LIKE ROUTE 66, BAJA BLEND, MANY OTHER TASTY THINGS. AND IT’S ALSO A CAFE. YOU CAN SEE ALL THE DIFFERENT TEAS THAT YOU CAN MAKE YOURSELF. THEY HAVE A SELF-SERVE AND OF COURSE THEY WILL SERVE YOU AS WELL. BUT THE REALLY INTERESTING THING ABOUT THIS PLACE IS THAT THEY HAVE A VEGAN MENU AND A NON-VEGAN MENU. OWNER AND CHEF JASON PIERCE JOIN US. YOU’RE ALSO KIND OF KNOWN FOR YOUR BREAKFAST PIZZA. YEAH. IT’S… IT’S ACTUALLY A BRAND NEW PRODUCT…. IT’S BECOME VERY POPULAR. WE’VE HAD IT FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS NOW. UMM, UMM, SO A LOT OF FANFARES. OKAY. SO HOW DO WE START? IS THIS GOING TO BE THE VEGAN VERSION? OH, WE’RE DOING THE STANDARDIZED VERSION RIGHT NOW. ALL RIGHT, SO THIS IS A COOKIE DOUGH THAT WE MAKE OURSELVES. UMM, THE WAY WE START IS BEING ABLE TO USE ANY COOKIE DOUGH RECIPE. ABSOLUTELY. YEAH. SO WE, UH, WE WERE KNOWN FOR OUR COOKIES HERE, SO WE LIKE TO USE OUR, OUR HOMEMADE COOKIES. SAME WITH OUR GRAVY. THAT’S OUR SAUSAGE GRAVY. WE MAKE IT OURSELVES TOO. WE MAKE OUR OWN SAUSAGES TOO. SO EVERYTHING’S HOMEMADE HERE AT THE CAFE. UH, SO THE FIRST THING WE DO IS SPREAD A NICE LAYER OF OUR SAUSAGE GRAVY ON THE COOKIE. MM. THAT’S A REALLY GOOD IDEA. RIGHT. SOMETHING DIFFERENT THAN JUST ORDINARY COOKIES AND GRAVY. MAKE IT A COOKIE. A PIZZA. SO FOR THE COOKIE. YEAH, WE USE MOZZARELLA CHEESE. AND FOR THE VEGAN VERSION, WE MAKE OUR OWN MOZZARELLA CHEESE. VEGAN MOZZARELLA CHEESE HERE ON HOMEMADE TOO. YUM. ALL RIGHT. AND THEN I SEE YOU HAVE SOME BACON AND EGGS HERE. SO WE, UH, THIS IS OUR CANDIED BACON. AND SO BOTH VERSIONS HAVE CANDIED BACON OR BACON. AND THE VEGAN VERSION HAS OUR VEGAN CANDIED BACON. AND THEN THE REGULAR VERSION OBVIOUSLY HAS THE REGULAR BACON WHICH LOOKS DELICIOUS. ALL RIGHT. AND YOU ALSO MAKE YOUR VEGAN BACON HERE. ABSOLUTELY. WE MAKE ALMOST EVERYTHING HERE. EVERYTHING WE CAN MAKE HERE, WE TRY TO MAKE HERE. AND THEN WE’RE GOING TO TOP IT OFF WITH AN EGG TO MAKE IT BREAKFAST. RIGHT. AND IT LOOKS DELICIOUS IN THESE WAYS. BREAK THE YOLK AND LET IT SPREAD ON YOUR BACON. AND WE’LL SPRINKLE SOME GREEN ONION ON TOP OF IT. I LOVE IT. AND BY THE MAGIC OF TV, LET ME SHOW YOU WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE WHEN IT’S DONE. LOOK HOW DELICIOUS IT IS. SO THIS IS THE NON-VEGAN VERSION. SO WHAT VERSION IS THIS? THIS IS THE VEGAN VERSION. WHAT’S ON TOP? UMM, SO THIS IS A GRILLED TOFU AND THIS IS OUR VEGAN BACON TOO. AND THAT LOOKS DELICIOUS. AND YOU SERVE IT WITH DIFFERENT SAUCES I SEE. SO THIS IS OUR HOMEMADE SALSA. WE HAVE A GREEN SALSA AND A RED SALSA. AND THEN THIS IS OUR SPICY SYRUP THAT WE LOVE. WE RECOMMEND A DRIZZLE ON TOP THAT LOOKS DELICIOUS. AND AGAIN, THEY’RE ALSO, YOU KNOW, KNOWN FOR THEIR TEAS. IF YOU’VE BEEN TO ONE OF OUR LOCAL FARMERS MARKETS, YOU’VE PROBABLY SEEN DIRTBAG TEA SOLD AT THE FARMERS MARKETS. AND SO WHEN YOU’RE HERE, YOU CAN ALSO, YOU KNOW, MAKE YOUR OWN BLEND SELF-SERVE OR YOU’LL SERVE IT AS WELL. ABSOLUTELY. WE SELL THAT AS WELL. WE JUST SET UP A SELF-SERVE STATION WHERE YOU CAN COME IN AND MAKE YOUR OWN BLENDS, OR USE ONE OF THE MANY BLENDS THAT WE HAVE. UH, WE ALSO MAKE MANY COLD BREW TEAS. UH, YOU CAN GET THEM IN FLIGHTS.
