This is not the first time that a regional company has shared its problems concerning guests with children.

The owner of Dragon Pizza shared some reflections in an article on social networks on guests with children after the restaurant staff told a group of families to leave the Somerville pizza show on Friday.

The message, which appeared on Instagram and Facebook on Sunday and was reported for the first time by The Boston Globesaid that the group of “negligent parents” and “unleanished children” “lacked respect for our dining room, other guests and our team”.

“Whoever visited our restaurant knows that we are a pizza who loves children,” reads the post. “Unfortunately, we had to demand a group of negligent parents on Friday to bring their family home because they lacked respect to our dining room, other guests and our team. Our restaurant, or any restaurant, is not a place where unopensed children can play. It’s about sharing catering experiences. ”

What followed was six thoughts:

  1. We welcome all the children who dine in our restaurant with open arms.
  2. We do not welcome parents who do not want to share a culinary experience with children.
  3. We like to share our games with children. Who wouldn’t do it?!
  4. We hate parents who use our games as babysitters while they ignore their children and let them damage and abuse our games.
  5. We believe that our pizza is the best, worthy of respect, and cherishing children who agree.
  6. We do not appreciate parents who treat our pizza as a simple and cheap option to feed their children until they can have their own dinner.

The globe reported that the Dragon post came after its owner, Charlie Redd, learned that families shared the details of the meeting on a Facebook parental group. Boston.com tried to locate the message and contacted people who seemed to know the family in order to make the side of history, but Boston.com did not hear in time for publication.

Redd, who has his own children, would also not share more specific details on the incident than what was said on social networks, but he added that he did not blame children on this subject.

“This (message) always refers to parents,” Redd told Boston.com.

With a career in hospitality, he said that he had built the Dragon Pizza space with families in mind. It’s not just a pizzeria, but the company offers an adjacent space, Dragon’s Lair, which includes games like Shuffleboard and Pinball.

“Since the opening of my first restaurant, Redd’s in Rozzie, I wanted to put guests with children at ease,” said Redd. “This is part of my philosophy of hospitality, so that restaurants engage everyone. We have succeeded here at Dragon to welcome groups with children. ”

Although Redd said it was the first time in more than six years to be opened that they had told a family to leave, it was not the first time that a restaurant in the region has complained about guests with children. The subject of guests with allegedly unruly children has become an online debate, in particular the surrounding breweries.

Debate on Breweries children

Last year, Rhode Island Brewery Proclamation Company wrote on Facebook a “sweet reminder” for guests who bring children that the staff and their board games are not “babysitters”.

The reactions, including the dragon post, were mixed. Many have applauded Redd for defending his business, while adding their own nightmare entries with families in restaurants. Others discussed its directives or thought it was unreasonable to publish such a declaration in the first place.

“Anyone who waited for tables knows it’s a huge problem,” a user on Facebook wrote. “Some parents, not all, think that their family is the most important family in the world. It’s his restaurant; It looks like children bother other customers. ”

“I work in a brewery and the children who run wild are by far the greatest complaint we obtain,” said a Reddit user.

“You had me until no. 6,” said an Instagram user. “Why can’t parents give their children a pizza as an easy and inexpensive option?”

  • Dave Portnoy Feud brought an increased business, says the owner of Dragon Pizza

“I like Dragon Pizza and I’m going a little regularly, but this answer is really (explained) weird,” said a Reddit user. “Just a bizarre language.”

Some of the negative reactions were less relevant for the debate around guests with children, but referred to another incident that put Dragon Pizza in the big titles: a viral and explanive hiking race with the controversial founder of Barstool Sports, Dave Portnoy. The personality of social media came to Dragon in 2023 to make a review filmed with a bite, but the video quickly turned into a birth between Redd and Portnoy.

The viral dispute resulted in the bombing of the Dragon pizza, and Redd said that he had received death threats. But the consequences have also seen the lines by the door of customers showing their support.
