Fast food chain cuts ice cream to just 99 cents to compete with McDonald’s McFlurry
A fast food chain has slashed the price of its ice creams to 99p to rival McDonald’s popular McFlurry.
Popeyes customers can get this incredibly cheap treat this week – but hurry before the deal ends.
The New Orleans-born brand this week announced its Whipz ice cream for just 99p – the original price was £2.99.
Popeyes said: “The August heat wave only means one thing.
“It’s Whipz time. Get yours for 99p this week.”
Whipz ice cream comes in many delicious flavors including vanilla, chocolate, Oreo and Biscoff.
By comparison, a standard McDonald’s mini McFlurry like Smarties, Maltesers or Oreos currently retails for £1.29 – but this may vary depending on your location.
The 99p Whipz deal at Popeyes is available until Sunday 18th August – so get one while you can.
You can grab one at any Popeyes restaurant in the UK or at the drive-thru when you order any regular Whipz online or in-restaurant, according to reports.
Popeyes entered the UK market in 2021 and has proven to be a hit with hungry customers ever since.
In just 30 months, the brand has opened over 38 restaurants across the UK.
The company plans to reach the 60-restaurant mark by the end of 2024.
You can find the nearest Popeyes store by using the locator tool on the chain’s official website.
Earlier this month, another American fast food chain, Dave’s Hot Chicken, announced plans to open 60 restaurants in the UK and Ireland.
The brand, known in the United States for its big burgers, tenders and spicy chicken bites, also offers sides like homemade kale salad, creamy mac and cheese and crispy, seasoned fries.
The chain’s chicken comes in seven spice levels, from zero to extra spicy, the latter requiring a signed waiver because of its intense heat.
Dave’s Hot Chicken has partnered with the Azzurri Group to lead its UK rollout.
The first restaurant is expected to open in London in the first quarter of 2025.
