SAN DIEGO — Romance is in the air in February.
As Valentine’s Day approaches, the lovebirds will try to find the ideal restaurant to set the mood.
Yelp recently compiled this year’s 100 best romantic restaurants for Valentine’s Day dinner. San Diego is home to four restaurants on this list.
Cesarina, located in Point Loma, dominated the local spots at #4.
“My fiancé and I came here for our anniversary, I highly recommend sitting outside for the romantic ambiance, it’s beautiful. The service is great – all the staff knew we were there for our anniversary and they really like to add a personal touch to their service,” said Angela C. of Yelper.
The Italian restaurant’s most popular dish, according to Yelp, is the Pomodoro Fresco, which includes fresh tomato sauce, Parmigiano, Burrata and pesto.
We are Naples, located in North Park, arrived at #22.
“The ambiance of the restaurant took my breath away! It felt like I was in Italy and the whole dining experience was really special and unique,” said Ashley K. of Yelper.
One of its popular dishes is the Margherita pizza, containing Pomodoro sauce, mozzarella, basil and extra virgin olive oil.
Piacere Mio, located in South Park, ranked No. 55 on the list.
“The overall ambiance of the restaurant is so warm and charming. The low lighting really creates a nice ambiance and the ambience is charming,” Yelper Kaloni S. said.
Spaghetti carbonara is a sought-after dish, composed of spaghetti pasta with sautéed shallots, white wine, egg yolk, pancetta, black pepper, a touch of cream and parmesan.
And There you go! French Bistro, also located in North Park, is the newest restaurant at No. 81.
“We came here for a date night while visiting San Diego and absolutely loved it! The interior was beautiful and elegant, and the service was fantastic,” Yelper Karissa L. reviewed.
The French restaurant is known for its mushroom ravioli, homemade mushroom ravioli with white truffle oil, parmesan and a port-wine mushroom sauce.
Yelp’s methodology was to identify businesses in the restaurant and food categories with a high concentration of reviews mentioning words and phrases like “romantic,” “date,” and “Valentine’s Day.” These spots were then ranked based on factors such as total volume and review ratings mentioning these keywords.
