Fried Chicken Tenders, The New Fast Food War
The United States has a love affair with fried chicken, and tenders are no exception. And Palm Beach County is no exception.
Local restaurants are not short on offering them – under various noms de guerre – on their menus. In fact, tenders have become a staple at many fast food restaurants.
They’re so popular that last month, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) fired a warning shot at all other local fast food purveyors of chicken tenders by launching a multimillion-dollar advertising campaign for its new offers using the channel original Recipe. But is it enough to top fan-favorite local fast food joints like Chick-fil-A and Bud’s Chicken and Seafood, or popular newcomers like Raising Cane’s and Huey Magoo’s? We wanted to find out, and we thought you would too.

Palm Beach Post editor taste tests chicken tenders from 10 local fast food restaurants
The Palm Beach Post never shies away from wading into a potential food war zone (or sending its editor into the middle of one). Post readers deserve objective coverage to help them navigate this increasingly intense battle for poultry dominance. No sacrifice is too great.
We will be testing chicken tenders currently offered by 10 local fast food restaurants and ranking them on five criteria: flavor; texture; temperature; batter/coating; and sauces. Each category will be worth a maximum of five points for a maximum total of 25 points. Only the restaurant’s original tenders will be tested; no special flavors.
We’ll publish a story about the results the week of July 15. And at that time, we’ll also poll readers for their favorite of the 10. Then we plan to publish those results to see how they compare to the Post’s.
The Post hopes the results of this judgment will be as enlightening to readers as those of the Great Chicken Sandwich War of 2021.
