Yes, you read that right! Gud poha, also called Vella Aval, is a simple recipe, easy to make and full of natural sweetness. Read on to find out how to prepare it.
Why should you make Gud Poha for breakfast?
It’s not about the taste of this recipe but the time required. Gud poha can be prepared in less than 10 minutes if all the ingredients are ready. It’s a perfect breakfast for busy mornings, picky eaters, or if you’re craving something sweet but healthy first thing in the morning.
What does Gud Poha taste like?
The star ingredient in Gud Poha is the humble jaggery, so its taste is slightly sweet. Since poha has no taste of its own, it imbibes the flavours of the other ingredients. To ensure that your dish is sweet enough, use jaggery powder instead of pieces. This ensures that the natural sweetness of this ingredient is distributed evenly. Additionally, this recipe contains dried nuts, coconut and bananas, which when combined, give a burst of flavours.
Is Gud Poha in good health?
Absolutely! Gud Poha is in very good health. It contains only natural ingredients, so no processed products enter your body. Chiwda (flattened grain of rice) is low in calories and high in fiber, which can help aid your digestion. If you are suffering from constipation, jaggery can help you as it contains digestive enzymes that regulate bowel movements. Additionally, jaggery is perfect if you want to lose weight due to its high potassium content. The dried nuts present in this recipe can help you feel full for a long time. The best part about gud poha is that all the ingredients – jaggery, nuts, coconut and bananas – have their own sweetness, so you don’t need to add any refined white sugar to it.
