Starbucks announces a new dress code for employees
Also announced this week, Starbucks updates its dress code to limit the amount of colors that staff can wear as part of the effort to improve their signature green apron look.
From May 12, baristas will have to wear a solid black top, whether it is a necklace, collar or buttoned shirt, the coffee chain announced on Monday. Meanwhile, their funds must be a shade of black, khaki or blue denim.
The chain said it would also provide employees with two free black t-shirts as the “more defined color palette” is launched.
“We are evolving our dress code in all stores to focus on simplified color options that allow our emblematic green apron to shine and create a feeling of familiarity for our customers, whatever the store they visit in North America,” said Starbucks in a press release.
The company said that the change of dress code will maintain the status of the green deck as a symbol of Starbucks since their introduction in 1987.
In 2016, Starbucks unveiled a dress code that allowed Baristas to kiss more diverse personal styles, from pink hair to Fedoras.
