Here’s How to Make Your Favorite Fast Food Sauces

Adding a good sauce for dipping or spreading is a great way to enhance your meals. Sometimes, though, we just want our favorite restaurant sauce.

Instead of digging through restaurant stocks or buying an expensive version at grocery stores (if they have them), why not make these delicious sauces in the comfort of your own home?

Chick-fil-A Sauce

This recipe comes specifically from Family Fresh Meals.

Quick notes:

  • Preparation time: 5 minutes.

  • Refrigeration time: 1 hour.

  • Total duration: 1 hour 5 minutes.

  • For: four.

  1. Mix all the ingredients together.

  2. Refrigerate for at least one hour before serving.

Many websites share the same ingredients without the lemon. Personally, I found that the lemon added a bit of depth to the sauce. To me, it tasted exactly the same as the original sauce, which made my ham sandwich and fries delicious.

Leavened cane sauce

My Key Lime is where I got this recipe.

Quick notes:

  • Preparation time: 2 minutes.

  • Refrigeration time: At least 6 hours.

  • Total duration: 6 hours and 2 minutes.

  • Servings: 1 cup.

  • 3/4 cup real mayonnaise.

  • 3 tablespoons of ketchup.

  • 5 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce.

  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce (they suggest Frank’s).

  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder.

  • 3/4 teaspoon fresh coarse cracked black pepper.

  • Pinch of celery salt (optional).

  1. Mix all ingredients until smooth.

  2. Let sit in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours, but 24 hours is best.

Author’s Notes:

  • Hot sauce is optional, especially if you don’t like spicy. If you choose not to add it, replace it with a tablespoon of ketchup.

  • The celery salt could be substituted with Old Bay or Tony Chachere’s.

This recipe was the hardest to find. There are many recipes available, but they often contain different ingredients. In this one, the comments were all positive and the author included notes on what other spices can be used to achieve the same flavor.

Before making this sauce, I had never heard of blackened seasoning. Turns out you can find it at local grocery stores. We used Zatarain’s, found at Walmart.

Before preparing your favorite recipe, if it contains mayonnaise, consider using thick mayonnaise. In many comments on Reddit’s “Top Secret Recipes” thread, users, who often call themselves former employees, said thick mayonnaise was better.
