WYFF NEWS FOUR TODAY. A 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION TURNED DEADLY. A SOUTH CAROLINA CORONER REACTS AFTER A MAN SET FIREWORKS ON HIS HEAD AND AN INMATE IS BACK IN CUSTODY AFTER DAYS OF RUNNING. NEW VIDEO SHOWING THE MOMENT HE WAS ARRESTED. HELLO. I’M PEYTON FURTADO. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR JOINING US HERE ON SATURDAY MORNING. WE’RE GOING TO TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR HOT, HOT WEATHER THAT YOU’VE GOT TO LOOK FORWARD TO TODAY. THIS IS OUR SKYCAM FROM THE HILTON GREENVILLE, A BEAUTIFUL EARLY MORNING. YOU CAN SEE THE SUN KIND OF RISE IN THE UPPER LEFT CORNER OVER THERE. 73 DEGREES RIGHT NOW. But Sydney Sullivan says it’s not going to last. She’s in the studio with us. Sydney, how long can we expect 70 degrees here? I’d say stay in the 70s while it’s still warm, although it’s still a little muggy this morning. This is the coolest we’ve had in a while. Temperatures are rising again this afternoon. Not as hot as yesterday afternoon, but it’s still going to be hot and humid. Greenville is 73, Anderson is 75, Spartanburg is 75, Asheville is 72. So, already a hot and muggy start to the day. But the good news is the sun is shining. We’re not seeing any rain, at least for now. So if you’re trying to get out during the first part of the day, it looks like it’s good to go, with a few clouds coming and going during the first half of the day. But for the most part, everything looks nice and calm once we move into this afternoon and evening, things will start to shift gears a little bit. We’re going to see those temperatures drop back into the lower 90s. Not yet. Not as hot as yesterday, but it’s still going to feel like triple digits when you factor in the humidity. THIS IS GOING TO COME WITH A FEW SHOWERS AND SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS IN THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. THIS IS NOT A OVERFLOW AND IT DOESN’T MEAN EVERYONE IS GOING TO SEE THIS HUMIDITY. WE MIGHT NEED SOME RAIN, SO IF YOU’RE ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES WHO GETS ONE OF THESE AFTERNOON STORMS, REALLY ENJOY IT IN WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA. IT SEEMS A LITTLE DRIZZER THAN THE REST OF THE AREA, BUT I STILL CAN’T COMPLETELY RULE OUT THE POSSIBILITY OF A SHOWER OR A THUNDERSTORM. I’LL BE TAKING A CLOSER LOOK AT THE LAST STORM, AND WHEN WE FINALLY SEE SOME RELIEF FROM THESE TEMPERATURES, PEYTON. THANKS SYDNEY. SPEAKING OF RELIEF, YOU’RE NOT GOING TO GET MUCH OF IT THIS AFTERNOON IF YOU’RE GOING OUT, BE AWARE OF SOME HEAT ADVISORIES IN OUR AREA. WE HAVE ONE STARTING AT 11:00 AM THIS MORNING. HEAT ILLNESSES INCLUDE MUSCLE CRAMPS AND PROFESSIONAL SWEATING, SO PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR BODY TODAY. THE NEXT STAGE IS HEAT EXHAUST, WHERE YOU MAY HAVE CHEWY SKIN AND NAUSEA. THE LAST STAGE IS HEAT IMPAIRMENT, WHICH IS WHEN YOUR SKIN DRIES OUT AND YOU MAY PASS OUT. REMEMBER, PLEASE STAY HYDRATED TODAY. IF YOU HAVE ANY OF THESE SYMPTOMS, FIND A WAY TO COOL DOWN. GO IN, GET MEDICAL HELP IF NEEDED, AND AN UPSTATE FAMILY’S 4TH OF JULY ENDED IN FLAMES. LAST WEEK AFTER THEIR HOME BURNED DOWN OVERNIGHT. THIS HAPPENED SHORTLY AFTER MIDNIGHT YESTERDAY IN WOODRUFF.
