How to make five dupes of easy candy bars from your kitchen
Here is a full transcription of this video.
Taryn Varricchio: I recently made Reese’s Cups, a Giant Reese, Twix, 3 Musketeer and Kat pie, because if you ask me, all the best things in life are covered with chocolate. And each of these dupes was relatively simple to do, minus a few misadventures along the way. And I must say … Yo.
Roommate: GOOD?
Taryn: MM-HMM.
They ended up enjoying quite delicious.
Let’s start with the reese peanut butter cups. You use four ingredients: milk chocolate chips, peanut butter, powdered sugar and graham crackers.
Crush 10 graham crackers in a mixer or a food processor. Add to a large bowl. Add 1 1/4 cup of powdered sugar and 1 1/2 cup of melted peanut butter. Mix everything. Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave and stir every 30 seconds until smooth consistency. Pour about 1 tablespoon of melted chocolate into a cupcake lining and spread the bottom. Roll about 1 tablespoon of peanut butter mixture in your hands.
In a way, flatten, because I don’t want my peanut butter cups to be a little rounded on the top.
Garnish with another tablespoon of melted chocolate.
Look how cute. Yo
Roommate: GOOD?
Taryn: MM-HMM. The layer of peanut butter is so much better in the homemade version because it is so much thicker. It is a much better relationship than what is normally in a reese, because there are, like, two peanut butter to a chocolate. Two to one.
Now at the Giant Reese’s Cup. I recently made the house version of the Reese’s Cup, the regular size, and this time, we will explode it very large and make, essentially, a reese pie. Now, my recipe calls six ingredients: graham crackers, peanut butter, technically, it requires coconut oil, but I have only vegetable oil, that’s what we are going to use. Chocolate chips, powdered sugar and butter.
Melt 2 cups of chocolate chips.
Now we want to spread this at the bottom of the bottom of the pan, as well as along the edges, because we want these crests around the Reese to show, because it is what the real candy looks like.
Place the shell in the freezer for 10 minutes to adjust. Crush 1 1/4 cups of Graham crackers. Pour 1 1/4 cup of powdered sugar, 1 1/4 cup of melted peanut butter and 1/2 cup more 2 tablespoons of melted butter. Mix until they are completely combined. Spread the peanut butter mixture on the hardened chocolate shell. Melt 2 cups of chocolate and pour over the peanut butter mixture.
Oh, it looks so well. This, like looks good. I mean, I didn’t do it, I didn’t think it was going to look bad, but I just say that I am excited, because I can predict how the final product will be.
Place in the freezer for 15 minutes to be adjusted.
(Publishing) The ridges look so beautiful! It’s delicious. Adding butter to the peanut butter garnish, key. It made him so thick and so creamy and just, as velvety.
Then we have Twix. I’m going to do your homemade twix with only four ingredients, one of which being graham crackers, chocolate chips, caramels and milk.
Place 15 caramels in a bowl. One. (Laughs) We might simply speed up this. (Fastwarking) Add 1 1/2 tablespoon of milk to a bowl of caramels. Melt in the microwave for 30-second increments to smooth consistency. If it seems too thick, add another tablespoon of milk. Break three graham crackers sheets in four pieces.
So it will be the basis of our candy bar, so I will break them lengthwise. Graham cookies can be difficult to break. I’m a little nervous, however. Yeah, like. F —! What am I supposed to do?
Nicole: Do you have a pizza roll?
Taryn: Oh! (laughs) There is a feeling of satisfaction when it does not break in the slightest way.
Go with the pizza cup. Just apply a little pressure to the center of the cookie, and this should divide the parts evenly in half. Good. Spread a thin layer of melted caramel on each cracker and let it adjust. Dunk each Cracker Graham in melted chocolate and place it on waxed paper. Let them sit in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
Ooh, the caramel is sticky. It’s really good. The caramel in my homemade version is more silky, so you get, as, as, filandreux, like the melted caramel in your bite. Yeah, you can even see, caramel, it looks right, hardened, where mine looks like, sticky. I feel like I have an experience. For example, I see the difference. So, this is really well coated with chocolate, has a pleasant, creamy and caramelly thickness inside, then, like, a thin cookie that clings.
Now I attack 3 musketeers. The three ingredients are stuffed animals, then substitute for a chocolate spread, I will use Nutella, then chocolate chips, which will be my outdoor coating of the candy bar.
Melt 3 ounces of chocolate chips using a double boiler. Stir until smooth consistency. Spread evenly on a greased bread pan bordered by parchment paper. Refrigerate five minutes to be paid. In a separate bowl, mix 3 1/2 ounces of stuffed animals, which is half aer-herd and 1/6 of Nutella cup or another chocolate spread. Microwave for about 30 seconds to loosen the mixture. Pour over the hardened chocolate in a bread pan. Refrigerate for about 20 minutes or until it is firm enough to cut. Remove the candies from the pan. Cut the bars about 3 inches in length, or shorter for fun waves. Melt the remaining chocolate chips. Dip the bars until they are completely covered and let them get into the freezer for five minutes.
Let’s try it. My version of the 3 musketeers is much more dominated by chocolate, while the 3 real musketeers have a thicker layer of nougat, which, with hindsight, I want the home version too. A note for the next time: the nougat is sticky and difficult to distribute, so do more to obtain a thicker inner layer.
And finally, Kit Kats, one of the easiest candy bars at home. There are only two ingredients for it, vanilla waffles and chocolate chips.
Prepare your pads and a cookie plate with ready waxed paper. Melt 3/4 of a cup of chocolate chips using a double boiler. Dipper the vanilla slices in melted chocolate. The air well. Place the candy bars on waxed paper. Let the refrigerator place for 25 minutes.
ALL RIGHT. MM, which has a different taste. Not in the wrong direction. These plates have a crazier taste than the plates of the Kat kit. It seems more condensed. It is simply more obvious and in a way, as, collapses when you bite yourself. But good. It was good.
So it was fun. I have probably eaten 36 candy bars. Overall, I think the dupe or replicas of the most successful candy bar I made were the Reese cuts. Certainly the cups of Reese. I would do them 100%. I would do the homemade version before going to buy the Reese, which says a lot, because the Reese are as good as they are. Make the Reese cups. They are really good. I hope you try a few at home, and if you’ve done it better than me, you can also tell me. Very good, goodbye.
