Best Gear and Gadgets for Summer 2024

During my first summer at home, I finally had the opportunity to use a backyard grill for all the family outings and holiday events I couldn’t accommodate in an apartment. While I was excited to cook, I didn’t anticipate all the mess that would result. I tried two different grill brushes last summer, but I think I finally found the perfect one.
You may already be familiar with Scrub Daddy’s line of heavy-duty sponges for scrubbing away kitchen grime, but the company that got its start on ABC’s Shark Tank recently launched the BBQ Daddy Grill Brush to scrub away stuck-on bits and pieces from your grill. I’ve been using it since I brought my grills out of hibernation for the season, and I can tell you it’s the best grill brush I’ve used. Best of all, it’s under $30.
What sets this apart from other grill brushes I’ve used is that it doesn’t have metal bristles to scrub away tough gunk from my grill grates. Instead, it features heat-resistant ArmorTec steel mesh with interwoven stainless steel fibers, which I find make better contact with my grates as I scrub. But what makes it really great is how the unique brush head can switch from firm to soft.
That’s because when I dip it in cold water, it stiffens up to help me better scrub away burnt-on, irritating food stuck on the grates—and when the heat from the grill warms the brush head, it becomes softer to get between the grates. The problem with wire-bristled grill brushes is that they fray over time, and as a result, they lose their ability to clean surfaces. Often, they have a hard time making contact with the grates, but that’s not a problem with the BBQ Daddy Grill Brush.
I also like how the knob can rotate to allow me to clean both the top and bottom sides of my cooking grates. And finally, cleaning the brush head is a breeze because it detaches and can be tossed in the top rack of my dishwasher, giving me more confidence that it’s clean every time, unlike my traditional bristle brush.
If you plan on doing a lot of grilling this summer, you’ll appreciate how quick and easy it is to clean your grates with the BBQ Daddy Grill Brush.
