People are furious with TikTok Nutella prankster@kaihspeakup / TikTok
Next time you think about covering your parents’ entire kitchen in Nutella, maybe…don’t do it. A TikToker, who pulled off this prank earlier this month, is getting some serious backlash on the internet for his viral shenanigans.
ICYMI, @kaihspeakup has gained quite a reputation for playing elaborate pranks on his parents, including his hazelnut spread antics.
“I’ve always wanted a Nutella house,” he wrote alongside the now-deleted video, which garnered over 6.2 million likes and 90,000 comments on TikTok before being deleted. In the original clip, @kaihspeakup uses plastic wrap to wrap the kitchen before covering literally every inch of the room with Nutella.
Once Instagram caught wind of the controversy, it went crazy, to say the least. Netizens were upset by the prank, calling it “not funny”.
“If it were my child, his parents’ house would no longer be his,” wrote one user.
Another added: “Now I feel sad for this generation. I can’t wait to get likes 🙁 at someone else’s expense.”
“Doesn’t anyone have something better to do with their time and money? Like go volunteer somewhere or feed the homeless,” another comment read.
“I don’t care about wasted Nutella, but I would be furious if my kitchen was covered in it,” a third person wrote on social media. “This kid would have a problem if he found that funny.”
While many comments were upset for the sake of parents, others were concerned about waste and environmental impacts.
“Nutella contains large amounts of palm oil. Palm oil plantations are causing deforestation and mass extinction of animals in Indonesia and South America,” pointed out @altamartin1202 on Instagram. “I can’t imagine how many animals died so he could pull off this ‘prank’. It’s such a waste.”
“People who become famous via TikTok or YouTube for doing shit like this is why the internet is stupid 😂” another follower wrote.
Another concerned commenter also slammed the prankster, writing: “The cost, the waste, the time this took could be better spent on something much more productive…sounds like a self-centered, selfish person, me, me, therefore therefore”. sad.”
It wasn’t just the Nutella stuffing that was missing on TikTok; @kaihspeakup’s entire account appears missing. Maybe he was punished?
