Is Christian Chicken a real fast food restaurant?

Starring Kevin Hart, “Night School” follows the story of a man named Teddy Walker, whose life is turned upside down after an accident at his workplace. He was supposed to get the promotion of a lifetime, but things go so wrong that he has to look for work elsewhere. Having dropped out of high school, Teddy’s lack of a high school diploma works against him. While he takes night classes to get his high school diploma, he is forced to take jobs that don’t require many qualifications. A fast food restaurant called Christian Chicken is the only place that will hire him, and he has no choice but to take the job, even though he hates it. The place features so prominently in the film that the idea of getting takeout takes over the viewer’s mind. Interestingly, it is possible to do so.

A real fast food restaurant has doubled its image for the fictional Christian Chicken

In real life, there is no restaurant chain named Christian Chicken, but if you visit the location depicted in the movie, you will find another fast food joint there. The scenes featuring Teddy’s temporary workplace were filmed at Mrs. Winner’s Chicken & Biscuits located at 4350 Fulton Industrial Boulevard in Atlanta. It is a “fast-food restaurant chain serving the best fried chicken in the South.” Founded in 1970 by Jack Massey, it first opened in Atlanta as “Nanny’s.” Since then, along with a name change, Mrs. Winner’s has expanded to several locations across the country, most notably in Georgia and North Carolina, as well as Tennessee and Alabama. Apparently, due to the company’s financial difficulties, its Fulton Industrial Boulevard location has been permanently closed.

During filming, the location was remodeled and transformed into the Christian Chicken for “Night School”. In the film, the Christian Chicken is located across the street from a strip club, which is its most loyal clientele, which Teddy is shocked to discover, especially after seeing the Christian influence on the place. Despite his religious leanings, he feels a little strange taking the job at the Christian Chicken, but since he has no other choice, he decides to take whatever comes his way. He expects to be given a managerial position, but it turns out that the job requires him to dress up as a “Christian Chicken” and attract customers by spending most of his day standing in front of the store.

Despite his inhibitions at first, Teddy grows accustomed to his job and begins to enjoy it after a while, especially when the truth about his situation comes out to his fiancée, Lisa. Things go so well for him that he continues to work there, not bothering to look for a job elsewhere, all the while preparing for his GED, even after failing the exam multiple times. By the time he gets his GED and finally gets the chance to escape from this place, which is what he originally wanted, he has changed so much that he appreciates his time there more.
