What is a ghost kitchen?
A ghost cuisine, also known as virtual cuisine, is a restaurant without a physical showcase.

Doordash ghost cuisine causes indignation
In a viral video with more than two million views, Jon Gott (@gottjon) shares the ups and downs that he crossed trying to start a Doordash ghost cuisine.
In the video, he saw on the phone with Doordash. He says they told him that they would send him a tablet to exploit the logistics of the restaurant.
From there he downloaded the menu and would be ready to leave.
“You don’t need like commercial cuisine or a kind of license like food?” His wife asks incredulous for rapid approval.

Gott clarifies that he had not really planned to cook the food himself. Instead, he would buy prefabricated food at Costco and resell them for a profit. Once the tablet has arrived, Gott has downloaded its menu and the “Rush” showcase. He understands:

What happened next?
Gott’s adventure was short -lived.
In a follow -up video, Gott says that someone reported it to Doordash after the Tiktok has become viral. Doordash then closed the store and sent an e-mail to Gott notifying him that the store was “temporarily disabled”.
“Tiktok, I’m sorry, I was just trying to earn additional money to bring my children to Disney World,” said Gott, seeming really disappointed. “… I thought it was ok.
Gott said that the worst was that it now has 60 Giant Costco muffins for which it has no use.

Gott recovered the text “it’s not real” on the initial video. So we wonder if it was only the reaction of the woman or if the video was actually a little.
Is the opening of a Ghost Doordash kitchen really so simple? Doesn’t he need a license?
Although Gott has made it very easy to set up his ghost cuisine, there are legality and permits that you must obtain before you can be operational.

The Doordash website confirms that potential merchants need a little more than that to work on the application.

Aside from that, if you “place the shipping food” like Gott, then the configuration could be so simple. He did not have to obtain a lot of initial investment or to hire staff.
Ethics is definitely questioned by viewers. But at its nominal value, this seems to be a legitimate company as long as Gott obtains the necessary food permits.
