Jane Fonda’s Must-Have Breakfast Is Charming
But there is one ingredient she never adds.

Maybe you know Jeanne Fonda as the witty Grace in the hit Netflix show “Grace and Frankie.” Or maybe you know her as the fitness enthusiast behind a popular series of workout videos from the 1980s. (Ahh, the days of VHS!). But it turns out the 86-year-old actor and activist is also a big fan of food.
This was not always the case, however. Fonda explained to the Los Angeles Times in 1996 how she fell back in love with food after a daunting battle with bulimia. “I can’t tell you what a pleasure it is to eat a meal, enjoy it and not feel bad,” Fonda told the newspaper.
To celebrate food and share it with others, Fonda published a cookbook in 1996 called “Cooking for Healthy Living,” featuring 120 recipes from Fonda and her friend and personal chef Karen Averitt. This book was just the beginning. These days, Fonda admits she’s a big fan of the food-focused travel show, “Somebody Feed Phil,” and her favorite meals and snacks (and the way she lights up while enjoying them ) appear from time to time on his Instagram account.
The subject of Fonda’s favorite foods occasionally comes up in television interviews, including one with Stephen Colbert a few years ago. Fonda stayed after filming segments of “Late Night with Stephen Colbert” from her home to participate in The Colbert Questionert.
For the uninitiated, “The Late Show” team designed this 15-question quiz to help fans get to know the show’s guests better. We often come away thinking that “celebrities are just like us!” This sentiment is true, and it certainly was when Colbert asked Fonda our favorite question of all: “What’s the best sandwich?”

Fonda paused for a moment to think, then responded with her confident answer: “Breakfast burrito.” Hold the potatoes. Soft yolks, bacon, avocado,” Fonda said, all nestled in a flour tortilla.
“That’s a quality response,” Colbert replied.
This comes very close to “Is a taco a sandwich?” ” debate. However, we firmly believe that a breakfast burrito qualifies as a breakfast sandwich…and a premium, deliciously simple, and pocket-friendly sandwich at that.
We think Fonda would really like Chef John’s crispy wrap burrito, which includes bacon, eggs, avocado and cheese, as long as he advises her to “hold the potatoes.”
Our Avocado and Egg Breakfast Burrito could also do the trick, especially if we replace the scramble with candied eggs and add some crispy bacon. By the way, this might actually be a great make-ahead breakfast if you’ve made flour tortillas and whole avocados, then have some soft-boiled eggs ready and a baking sheet filled with the best recipe of Joseph’s easy bacon to reheat in the morning. . After your alarm goes off, all you have to do is roll out the tortilla, slice or dice the avocado while you heat up some eggs and slices of bacon, then layer it all together before wrapping it up and roll it.
