Sticking to your diet may not be as difficult as it used to be. In the past, it was impossible to order a very low-carb meal if you were following the Atkins or ketogenic diet, but these days, restaurants are catering to consumer diet demands for popular diet options. Even if a restaurant doesn’t necessarily promote a ketogenic or low-carb diet, many restaurants have made it easier for customers to select keto-friendly ingredients.

Here are some of the low-carb options you can find at popular restaurant chains in the United States.

Keto Fast Food Options

Taco Bell

While Taco Bell doesn’t offer keto-friendly options, the fast food chain is able to accommodate many lifestyles since everything on the menu is customizable. For example, you can omit the rice and beans and add steak and sour cream.

There are two easy-to-modify options to make them keto-friendly, including the Cantina Chicken Bowl, where you can swap out the rice and beans for a second helping of slow-roasted chicken. There’s also the Veggie Bowl, where you can swap out the rice and beans for chicken, slow-roasted chicken, or steak. Check out Taco Bell’s online nutrition calculator to make sure your choices are in line before heading over.

Chipotle Mexican Grill

Chipotle offers “lifestyle bowls,” including the Wholesome Bowl and the Keto Salad Bowl, both of which cater to those following a ketogenic diet. The Wholesome Bowl features lettuce, chicken, fajita veggies, fresh tomato salsa, and guacamole, while the Keto Salad Bowl features lettuce, chicken, red chile tomatillo salsa, fresh tomato salsa, sour cream, and cheese. Plus, you can always make your own bowl to meet your keto needs. For example, swap out the rice and beans for lettuce and add a serving of tomato salsa, guacamole, and cheese.

Chipotle’s website also has a nutrition calculator so you can figure out what you want to order before you go there.

Chick-Fil-A

Several grilled chicken options are available at this poultry-focused fast food joint. The grilled nuggets come in packs of 5, 8, 12 and 30 and can be accompanied by a side salad tossed with Avocado Lime Ranch dressing. Another option is the Cobb salad (no corn) topped with grilled chicken or cod.

At Wendy’s

This fast food joint is known for its burgers, but you can swap out the buns for lettuce to make them keto or low-carb. This opens up the option to order a variety of lettuce-wrapped burgers, including the Baconator, Son of Baconator, Double Stack, Dave’s Single, Dave’s Double, and Dave’s Triple — just keep the fries and ketchup on the side.

Burger King

Like Wendy’s, this place is known for its burgers. Choose the Whopper, Whopper Jr, Bacon Cheeseburger or Bacon King — no bun, no ketchup or fries.

KFC

If you’re following the ketogenic diet, crispy fried chicken is out of the question. And KFC no longer offers grilled options at most locations. So you’re limited to the following sides: As for sides, the only low-carb option is green beans (5 grams of carbs). For salads, consider Caesar salad (2 grams of carbs) and house salad (3 grams of carbs).

Panda Express

For low-carb options, consider the Super Greens Entree (10 grams of carbs), Mushroom Chicken (10 grams of carbs), String Bean Chicken (13 grams of carbs), Black Pepper Angus Steak (13 grams of carbs), Broccoli Beef Bowl (13 grams of carbs), and Steamed Ginger Fish (8 grams of carbs).

Metro

Subway offers “No Bready Bowls” of all styles, as well as salads. The Oven Roasted Turkey Protein Bowl, for example, includes everything you’d find in an Oven Roasted Turkey Footlong, minus the bread.
