Make DIY BBQ Dry Rub

Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! Our summer program is in full swing. On Thursday, June 13, we are hosting events for teens and adults in the afternoon and evening. At 3:30 p.m., it’s time for the Teen Manga & Anime Club. This time we will watch and discuss “Delicious in Dungeon” before our ramen noodle making. Teens will pair the ingredients with cooked ramen noodles before combining them into a (hopefully) delicious dish. The best ramen dish will win a special prize. And that evening, it’s DIY evening for adults at 6 p.m.! Try cyanotype to create botanical sun prints using light-sensitive paper.

Friday at 2 p.m. we have a new special program, Interactive Movie Adventures! “You VS Jungles” is the first of three interactive film programs this summer. In addition to this one, you can expect “You VS Mountains” and “You VS Deserts”. For each interactive survival adventure, you’ll join Bear Grylls and travel through harsh and unforgiving locations. During your adventures, it will be up to you, the audience, to decide what to do and how to get out of each perilous situation. Also on Friday, we will have a new pop-up program for teens, Let’s Try Hwachae (Korean Watermelon Punch). The program will begin at 3:30 p.m. and will give teens the chance to try a fun new drink that is currently making the rounds on social media. Join us on Friday to make it together and organize a little tasting evening!

Saturday is our One-Shot Tabletop D&D Adventure for Teens. Although registration is now full, you can still participate as a spectator. Take a close look at all the thrills, murders and drama and enjoy the story as it unfolds with players. The dice will start rolling at 12:30 p.m.

Next Monday we will begin offering our DIY BBQ Dry Rub to customers. Stop by Saturday and make your own delicious combination of herbs and spices provided by the library just in time for Father’s Day! The last time we offered it, it was extremely popular, so be sure to pick it up early before it disappears. Containers for spices will be provided. Due to limited supply, we ask customers to stick to one jar of spices per person.

Tuesday we’re back with Campfire Story Time and Fireside Tween Scene at 10:30 a.m., followed by Tech Tuesday at 11 a.m. for all your personal tech needs. Wonderful Wednesdays continue with the Sternberg Museum at 10:30 a.m. Discover the real people who inspired larger-than-life adventurers like Indiana Jones.

Thursday we have Nintendo Trivia at Dry Lake. How well do you know everyone’s favorite red plumber? Do you know the meaning of the three pieces of the Triforce? Form a team or go solo as you compete for fabulous prizes. Register on greatbendpl.info to add your team to the list (limit of 4 per team).
