McDonald’s iconic wraps could soon be making a comeback
McDonald’s fans and operators have been clamoring for the return of the iconic Snack Wrap, a simple but beloved combination of chicken, lettuce, cheese and sauce inside a flour tortilla, since it was discontinued in 2016. Great news for those ultra-loyal customers: McDonald’s has just provided an exciting hint that a new version of the Snack Wrap may finally be in the works.
In a virus TikTok Post This week’s food news roundup @snachwithzach All-new McCrispy Strips have reportedly just been spotted on the menu at select McDonald’s restaurants in the US. The strips are an extension of McDonald’s Southern-style McCrispy fried chicken sandwich line, which debuted in 2021 in response to the ongoing chicken sandwich wars.

The TikToker said he reached out to McDonald’s for comment and was told the McCrispy Strips were being tested at seven stores in Hickory, North Carolina, through July 21.
“They are currently testing it to assess its operational effectiveness,” he added.
A McDonald’s customer who was able to order the new strips told @snachwithzach that they were similar to the Crispy Buttermilk Tenders will no longer be available in 2020but had a lighter coating of breading. A McDonald’s representative did not immediately respond to our questions seeking confirmation about the details of the reported McCrispy Strips test.
So what does a new McDonald’s chicken cut have to do with the long-awaited return of the Snack Wrap? Well, as @snachwithzach noted in the video, it’s the “missing link we needed” for this beloved menu item to finally return.
At an investor meeting in December 2023, McDonald’s USA President Joe Erlinger revealed that the company plans to build on the success of its McCrispy chicken sandwiches by developing a new McCrispy chicken tender. That chicken tender, Erlinger said, will eventually become part of a new McCrispy wrap.

The fact that a new McCrispy Chicken Wrap has finally been spotted means that McDonald’s customers are one step closer to getting the chicken wraps they’ve been waiting for. It’s unclear exactly when we’ll see a McCrispy Wrap hit menus, however, as the new wraps are still in the testing phase.
As fans wait for more news on the Snack Wrap’s possible return, they should keep their eyes peeled for several other recent additions on the McDonald’s menu. Earlier this month, the chain launched a new Kit Kat Banana Split McFlurry (540 calories) made with creamy vanilla soft-serve ice cream, real banana, strawberry clusters, and crunchy Kit Kat wafer pieces. McDonald’s also brought back the Smoky BLT Quarter Pounder with Cheese (680 calories) that debuted in 2022 on July 10 and launched a limited-edition $5 meal deal in late June.
