  • The BBQ Museum, the world’s leading world museum in the barbecue, opens in Kansas City, Missouri on April 12.
  • The museum presents exhibitions on the history and culture of the barbecue of different regions of the United States, including Memphis.
  • Visitors can expect interactive displays, artistic installations and information on the different styles and techniques of barbecue.

Memphis Barbecue is legendary far beyond the limits of the city of Bluff, and now good people in Missouri and visitors to a new attraction can learn more about the contribution of the city to the culture of the American barbecue.

Located in Kansas City, Missouri, the barbecue museum is the world’s leading museum dedicated to grills, smoking and everything that is cooked in fire.

“The barbecue museum is a party for your senses,” said founder Jonathan Bender. “Prepare to immerse yourself in smoke and sizzle from the barbecue world.”

Customers enter the Barbecue Museum at 2450 Grand Blvd. Through an oversized door resembling a Southern Pride smoker door to start their trip to the American barbecue country. The first five installations are dedicated to meat, friction, wood and fire, smoke and sauce, but it is the rear half that will be the pride of all Memphien.

The final installations pay tribute to the regional barbecue of Kansas City, Carolines, Texas and – of course – from Memphis. Each regional room offers a multitude of information on the history, culture and style of barbecue that defines this area. The Memphis room also presents jokes on dad on the theme of the barbecue intended to “tickle your ribs”.

The artist of Memphis Michael Roy – better known as Birdcap – is presented in the museum, adding to the authenticity of the section dedicated to the barbecue of the city of Bluff and reminding visitors that the culture of the city can be represented in many ways.

“Kansas City has such a rich barbecue story,” said Bender. “This is the ideal place to give life to the first barbecue museum in the world.”

The large opening of the Barbecue Museum is April 12.
