Mushroom-infused candy and chocolate recalled in New York and across the US after reports of serious cases
California-based Prophet Premium Blends is recalling all flavors of its Diamond Shruumz chocolate bars, cones and gummies due to reports of serious illnesses associated with consumption of the products.
The products, which can be purchased online and in person at various retail locations across the country, and the illnesses they have allegedly caused are under investigation by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), poison control centers across the country, and state and local partners.
All product lots, expiration dates and flavors have been recalled and Prophet Premium Blends has ceased production and distribution of the product line.
According to the Diamond Shruumz website, the products contain varying amounts of “nootropic and functional” mushrooms. The products do not contain psilocybin or any controlled drugs, the website states.
The full list of retailers is not yet known. But 39 cases of illness have been reported along with 23 hospitalizations in 20 states, including New York.
