People are sharing their opinions on “I’ll die on this hill” fast food and they actually make some very good points.

As someone who grew up in the era of McDonald’s playgrounds and Wendy’s porches, I developed a lot Fast food opinions over the years. For example, Burger King’s Shake ‘Em Up fries were top-notch and should be brought back immediately. So when Reddit user u/eF240uKX52hp asked the r/AskReddit community to share their “I’ll die on this hill” opinions on fast food, I was ready to dive right in. Here are some of the best and most controversial opinions.

1.“The old-school Pizza Hut I knew as a kid in the ’80s and ’90s remains arguably the happiest restaurant experience I’ve ever had in my life, and no amount of foie gras or $150 duck breast with balsamic reduction has or ever will change that.”

2.“McDonald’s fries must be eaten within five minutes of purchase, otherwise they turn into despair sticks.”

“You have to eat the fries hot and the Coca-Cola cold. It’s an elite experience. After a few minutes, throw them both away.”

3.“Yellow Wendy’s was better in every way.”

4.“It should be cheap. When it starts costing as much as the higher quality regular restaurants, it’s just not worth it.”

5.“McDonald’s reached its peak in the late ’80s and early ’90s: beef tallow fries, fried apple pies, McDonaldland cookies, peanut sundaes, the Big Extra — all of these items defined the menu.”

6.“KFC should only sell chicken skin with a herb and spice coating.”

7.“Taco Bell doesn’t cause diarrhea unless you eat way too much at one time.”

8.“Bring back all-day breakfast at McDonald’s. Sometimes I just want a bacon, egg and cheese biscuit.”

9.“Arby’s hash browns deserve a makeover. They were so good and I miss them. I also feel like Arby’s as a whole is pretty low key and they’re not as bad as people say.”

ten.“A fresh Whopper prepared properly is a high-end fast-food burger. It may be my favorite. The problem is the inconsistency.”

—in/marsepique

“Burger King is sort of the fast-food version of Russian roulette. If it’s done right, it’s the best there is. But if it’s not, it’s completely inedible without a lot of ketchup.”

11.“McDonald’s made a mistake by stopping production of Snack Wraps.”

13.“Taco Bell’s Beef Meximelt was the best fast food product ever created. They need to bring back Meximelt. Now.”

14.“Sweet and sour sauce is the best McNuggets sauce, and the best McNuggets shape is the boot.”

15.“Dipping fries in ketchup is the best way to do it. Pouring ketchup on fries is an abomination.”

16.“Popeyes is better than KFC when it comes to chicken.”

—in/ipozgaj

“Popeyes is hands down the best fried chicken chain in its category. It’s a complete mystery to me, and there should probably be a documentary about what goes on there. The employees often have very little patience and are borderline rude, but damn, they always deliver quality.”

—u/greengo

17.“The McRib is cool and all, but I’d give anything for them to bring back the McPizza from the late 80s/early 90s.”

20.“The Filet-O-Fish is really good. It might be the best sandwich at McDonald’s.”

—u/HI_DUMDUM_

“The filet of fish is my favorite McDonald’s sandwich, hands down. My wife literally told me she’s never met or known anyone else who eats it. I told her that people are liars and secret filet of fish lovers because for some reason buying a fish sandwich at McDonald’s is taboo.”

21.“In-N-Out fries are the worst fast food fries I’ve ever had. And yes, I tried the Animal style; they were still awful.”

22.“Jack in the Box is seriously underrated. All-day breakfast, tacos, Munchie Meals, and a teriyaki bowl?! You won’t find this variety anywhere else.”

23.“Waffle House is really good, and not just when you’re drunk at 3 a.m. The All-Star Breakfast in the morning is a blast. The Texas Bacon Cheesesteak Melt is great for lunch or dinner, especially with the hash browns. The fact that they’re always open, even on holidays, makes it even better. I love this place and hope it never goes away.”
