Poundland customers rush to buy popular discontinued chocolate bar which is back on shelves and ‘needed in their lives’
A popular discontinued chocolate is back on Poundland shelves, much to the delight of bargain hunters.
Fans of MilkyWay’s Crispy Rolls have discovered that the sweet treat is back in stores after being axed by Mars two years ago.
Consumers were devastated when the bar was discontinued and it regularly tops polls on which chocolates they would like to see return.
Additionally, a “Bring Back The Mars Milky Way Crispy Rolls” petition has reached nearly 10,000 signatures.
But chocolate lovers can now breathe a sigh of relief after the treats were spotted on Poundland shelves.
One eagle-eyed shopper noticed the chocolates were on sale and, writing in the Facebook group B&M Bargains, Extreme Money Saving Deals and More, shared a photo of the products in store, writing: “Not in bnm but in poundland they are on sale.”
One person commented: “I didn’t know they still made these!”
Another tagged his friend’s name and wrote: “Your mission is to find them for my birthday please.”
Someone else simply said, “Mmmmmmmm.”
And someone added: “All the crusty buns.”
MilkyWay crispy buns are also available at B&M.
The discount retailer previously sold boxes of Milky Way crispy buns for just 16p each, but they now cost £1.
If you’re looking to purchase a pack, you can find your nearest Poundland or B&M store using the locator tool.
When the rolls were first discontinued in 2022, a Mars spokesperson told The Sun: “Although Milky Way Crispy Rolls are currently in a galaxy far, far away, we are pleased to offer many delicious alternatives such as Milky Way Magic Stars, Maltesers, Mars and of course, the traditional Milky Way.
“The love for Milky Way Crispy Rolls is off the charts and we’ve definitely taken notice.”
Poundland and B&M’s deals are hard to beat, but it’s always a good idea to compare prices.
You can compare the cost of items from different retailers using price comparison tools such as Google Shopping and Trolley.co.uk.
The Milky Way Crispy Roll isn’t the only discontinued treat being reinstated on consumer shelves.
B&M also sells a dupe of the retro Tooty Frooties treat, called Fruit Blast.
Cadbury has announced that it is bringing back the beloved Cadbury Top Deck for a limited time.
First launched in 1993, the retro bars disappeared from shelves in the late 90s, but the iconic chocolate bar is being relaunched as part of Cadbury’s 200th anniversary celebrations.
And B&M shoppers have rushed to buy another new Cadbury bar based on an iconic Australian dessert.
The discounter often imports products from Australia to the delight of customers, most recently Dairy Milk Raspberry bars.
How to Save Money on Chocolate
We all love a little chocolate every now and then, but you don’t have to break the bank to buy your favorite bar.
Consumer journalist Sam Walker reveals how to cut costs…
Go to your own brand – If you’re not too keen on the taste and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you’ll save money by opting for the supermarket’s own brand bars.
Compare the prices – if you’ve spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, be sure to check if it’s cheaper elsewhere.
Websites like Trolley.co.uk allow you to compare prices of products from all the major chains to see if you’re getting the best deal.
Pay attention to the yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on products to indicate that they have been reduced.
They usually do this if the product is near the end of its expiration date or if the packaging is slightly damaged.
Buy bigger bars – most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the bigger the bar.
So if you have an appetite and are planning on buying a large quantity of chocolate anyway, you might as well buy more.
