A talented mum who baked a life-size cake of superhero antihero Deadpool has been left stunned after her incredible creation was praised by Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds.
Lara Mason spent 120 hours over a three-week period sculpting the massive 10-foot-tall cake of Marvel characters Deadpool and Wolverine.
Canadian actor Reynolds, who plays Deadpool, then shared one of the videos of Lara making the cake with the caption: “What?! How?!”
Lara, 38, said she was stunned after seeing the megastar’s post on Instagram on Monday (22/7) as she is a “huge fan”.

She added: “I’m a huge fan of Deadpool and also Ryan Reynolds. Knowing his social media presence, I had a feeling he might see it.
“But I didn’t expect him to share it like that on his Instagram stories with millions of his followers. It was absolutely amazing, I couldn’t believe it.”
Lara has been making cakes for over 13 years and with Wolverine holding Deadpool aloft, this makes this the tallest and most complicated cake she has ever built.
She used over 300kg (661lbs) of ingredients to create the dynamic duo’s stunning edible creation to celebrate the release of the latest film.
Lara first covered the cake with chocolate ganache, then modeled the chocolate, and its base is made from leftover sponges from customer orders.
She then used an airbrush pen to sculpt the characters before Deadpool had to be hoisted onto Wolverine as he was very tall and heavy.
Her videos of the cake building have not only reached Hollywood royalty, but have now been viewed by nearly six million people on social media.
Lara, from Brownhills, Walsall, West Mids, said: “This is probably one of the most complicated cake designs I have ever made.
“I really enjoy sculpting characters, so this was a really fun challenge for me. Even though it was stressful at times, I’ve never been more proud of the end result.”
“I chose the Dirty Dancing pose because it’s the most iconic couple image in all of film – and also the most gravity-defying one that I thought would be impressive.
“All the promos were about their dynamic duo and their relationship, so I thought it would be appropriate too.
“The hardest part was hoisting them into place. Hugh Jackman is a big man, so we just couldn’t lift one on top of the other.
“We were worried about whether the product would support the weight or not, and we only have one chance, otherwise we have to start all over again.
“But luckily that part went really well and we lifted it almost to the ceiling.
“It took us weeks to try to figure out how we could do this, but we did it.”
Lara, who runs Lara Cakes, has made similar sculptures in the past including those of Harry Styles, Ed Sheeran, Queen Elizabeth II, Spiderman, Harry and Megan and the Grinch.
Her latest sculpture is her largest yet, breaking her previous record of Taylor Swift lifting the Superbowl trophy, which she completed in February.
The cake celebrates the release of the Marvel movie Deadpool & Wolverine which comes out this week (Thursday).
