One of the most exciting aspects of modern music is how the Internet makes it easy for people to follow the trajectories of their favorite stars. Sabrina Carpenter has been a pop singer for many years, but she only recently became a pop singer star. She broke the mold by becoming famous several years into her career. The former Disney star explained why she has no problem with her long road to the top.
Sabrina Carpenter said slowly becoming a pop star was good for her
Some artists who seem to rise to fame out of nowhere are controversially referred to as “industrial factories.” Some fans see these artists as having fake followers. Carpenter, on the other hand, has been working towards her success for a long time. She became an “It Girl” after releasing five albums and starring in numerous films and television series. Some stars might be annoyed by this career trajectory, but the “Please Please Please” singer is glad her singing career took years to launch.
In a 2024 interview with Rolling Stone, Carpenter said she was happy to know that her career was slowly gaining traction. “I’m really grateful that it happened over the course of time that I figured it out, because I don’t feel like it came to me,” the “Nonsense” singer said. “It’s almost like I can just relax and be excited about it. I say Sabrina wasn’t built in a day.”
Former Disney star always knew she would be a pop star
The “Espresso” singer was asked if she ever doubted her singing career would take off. She did not do it ! “I’m just boring,” she says. “I’m literally boring. I never had a plan B, and I didn’t even think it wouldn’t work. I always knew it was not a question of if it would happen, but when it would happen.
During a 2023 interview with Grammy.com, Carpenter revealed what it was like to be named Variety’s 2023 Rising Star. “Just being recognized by them was also surreal, because I “I’m then in a room with a group of people whose music I listen to, songs I study and producers I love,” she said. “I was just sitting there talking to them – and it’s not like imposter syndrome, because it was truly an honor. It’s cool to be able to do what I love the most, and when these things happen, it’s just icing on the cake. I am very grateful to them.
How the charts treated Sabrina Carpenter
So far, Carpenter has only produced two top 10 singles: “Espresso” and “Please Please Please.” The former reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100, remaining on the chart for 10 weeks. Meanwhile, “Please Please Please” currently sits comfortably atop the Billboard Hot 100 for its second week on the chart.
Is Carpenter another star for now, or will she last? Nobody can say. However, her sense of humor and clever approach to songwriting suggest she might have some staying power. She seems talented enough that she can still have fans, even if she’s not topping the charts.
Carpenter took the long way, and she’s happy.
