Schwan’s Company invests in manufacturing facility to expand Asian food category

The production site will also include a wastewater treatment plant designed by Schwan and state and city officials, which will allow the company to discharge water into the city with “least impact possible on current city operations,” the company said in the same statement. .
Expansion on the Asian cuisine market, development of the Bibigo brand
Between Asian restaurants and consumer packaged foods, the Asian cuisine market has grown in popularity in the United States, with 73% of all counties nationwide having at least one Asian restaurant, according to the Pew Research Center.
With $145.3 billion in revenue generated in 2022, the global Asian cuisine market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of over 7% between 2023 and 2030, according to Nasdaq data.
The Schwan production facility will manufacture Asian-style foods, primarily the company’s bibbigo Korean food brand, in addition to frozen and shelf-stable meals, sides, snacks and entrees.
“This project will create significant new production capacity for Schwan’s, allowing us to continue to support our market share-leading bibigo brand and drive future innovation and growth in the Asian food category,” said outgoing CEO Dimitrious Smyrnios in a statement.
bibigo offers a range of packaged foods in frozen and shelf-stable formats, including frozen dumplings, starters and main courses, as well as shelf-stable sauces, seaweed snacks and microwaveable rice and sides .
“The US market continues to generate strong growth for CJ Foods and the ability to continue to evolve our product portfolio to meet growing consumer demand is vitally important to our strategy. This facility will allow us to further accelerate the growth of (Korean) and other Asian cuisines,” said Minsok Pak, CEO of CJ Foods, in the same release.
