Shoppers are rushing to get their hands on a new Colin the Caterpillar toy from M&S and it costs less than cake
COLIN the caterpillar fans are flocking to M&S after the store launched a Colin dog toy for just £6.
The adorable toy appears to have been well received by dogs and their owners, with many taking to social media to share it at home.
TikTok user Ali, who posts under @aliinthecotswolds, uploaded a video of herself buying the Colin toy for her dachshund.
She wrote: “Run, don’t walk to M&S for this £6 dog toy.”
Ali added that it was the “cutest dog toy” – and her dachshund seemed to be a fan too.
Ali was shown unwrapping the cheap toy, before giving it to her eagerly awaiting dog, who immediately ran off with the toy in his mouth.

The soft toy measures 28cm in length and is a replica of the beloved M&S character.
The website states: “Give your pet hours of playtime with this plush toy, shaped like Colin the Caterpillar™ chocolate cake.
“Two squeakers inside add to the fun.”
Ali’s video has racked up over 13,000 likes and appears to have been a hit with many dog owners.
One of them said, “That’s great.”
Another added: “Oh my god this is so cute.”
Meanwhile, a third commented: “I don’t even have a dog and I want one.”
Others cheekily said they were looking forward to Aldi to release a replica of Cuthbert the Caterpillar.
Currently, the toy seems to have done so well online that it is currently out of stock.
However, you can add your email address on the M&S website to be notified if there is a return.
Last month, M&S fans were left disappointed after the supermarket chain stopped selling an iconic treat.
The popular Colin caterpillar in a jar has recently disappeared from store shelves.
An eagle-eyed fan has noticed that the Colin the Caterpillar cake in a jar has disappeared from M&S stores.
She raised the issue with the company on X, formerly Twitter.
The message read: “Hello M&S, have you stopped selling Colin Cakes in a Jar?”
The company account responded by saying: “Hi Emily, it looks like these products have been discontinued I’m afraid. I’ve let our Food team know that you’d like to see them back in stock!”
The cake pots hit supermarket shelves in 2021, with fans hailing them as “a little pot of joy”.
The treat consisted of layers of chocolate sponge cake, Belgian chocolate sauce and chocolate ganache topped with a mini Colin’s face in white chocolate in a practical packaging.
Each pot retailed at £4, which divided opinion among buyers at the time.
But it’s not all doom and gloom as M&S has launched a huge range of new products.
A spokesperson said: “We are constantly reviewing, updating and improving our ranges in the Foodhall and have launched 1,250 new products in the last year, as well as upgrading 1,000 products.
“This year we are launching 1,400 new products and upgrading another 1,000 products.”
Fans of cakes in a pot might be delighted as M&S has released a new alternative treat – and it’s also available in a pot.
Colin the Caterpillar Chocolate Mousse has hit supermarket shelves and offers a similar chocolatey treat.
This sweet treat comes with a layer of rich chocolate sauce on the bottom, topped with a moist chocolate mousse.
The dessert is also decorated with a white chocolate Colin face and pieces of soft brownie.
Colin the Caterpillar vs. Cuthbert the Caterpillar
MARKS & Spencer has reached a truce with Aldi over Colin the Caterpillar cake.
The posh supermarket and discount chain have been locked in a legal battle after Aldi started selling a cake called Cuthbert the Caterpillar, which resembled the M&S creation.
They reached a confidential amicable agreement on November 5, as is now known.
The companies did not disclose terms of the deal, but both cakes will still be sold.
An Aldi spokesperson said: “Cuthbert is free and looking forward to seeing all his fans again very soon!”
An M&S spokesperson said: “The aim of the complaint was to protect the intellectual property of our Colin the Caterpillar cake and we are very pleased with the outcome.”
The brand began selling the famous Colin cake over 30 years ago and its design has remained virtually unchanged since 2004.
The only exception is seasonal events such as Halloween, Christmas and Easter, when M&S launches new temporary designs.
Colin is made with chocolate sponge and buttercream, covered in a chocolate shell, and costs £7.
Aldi launched its own Cuthbert cake in 2019 for £4.99.
Most supermarkets now have their own version, including Waitrose’s Cecil, the Co-op’s Charlie and Tesco’s Curly cake.
Colin the Caterpillar Chocolate Mousse is on sale at the tills for just £2.
Some buyers have already tried this delicious treat, calling it a “premium product.”
One person wrote on Instagram: “There’s just one problem with this… there’s not enough of it!”
“Please M&S, make a giant version of this for sharing.”
Another added: “This is a really crunchy looking mousse.”
