Start the car! Travel time to America’s favorite chains from Vancouver
Vancouver has a pretty epic food scene, but fast food lovers know we’re missing out on some American staples. You’re already traveling to the States to do your grocery shopping, so why not treat yourself to some tasty dishes too?
While we can beg them over and over again to come to Vancouver, it might be easier to take the bull by the horns and cross the border to satisfy your craving.
So we used Google Maps and, using Vancouver as our starting point, calculated how long it would take us to get to some of the most popular restaurant chains in the United States. Travel times vary depending on a number of factors (like how many Vancouverites want to try Chick-fil-A sauce on a given day).
Whether you’re trying these spots for the first time or are a frequent visitor, here’s how long it would take you to get to some of the most popular American restaurant chains from Vancouver.
Jack in the box
Driving time: 1 hour
Of all the fast food chains we’ve selected, the closest one is Jack in the Box. Known for its curly fries and “smallest tacos,” according to its Instagram bio, it’s only an hour’s drive to this burger chain in Blaine, Washington. Be sure to say hello to Jack if you’re stopping by.
Address: 8140 Birch Bay Square Street, Blaine, Washington
Sonic Drive-In
Driving time: 2 hours
No, not the hedgehog. Sonic is an American fast food chain known for its wide variety of hamburgers, sandwiches, and hot dogs. The real draw is its drive-thru locations, which allow you to pull up to a kiosk, press a button to place your order, and then someone brings your order to you, which you can eat in your car.
Address: 3802 116th Street NE, Marysville, Washington
Chick-fil-A
Driving time: 2 hours 10 minutes
Home of the famous Chick-fil-A sauce, this chicken restaurant requires over two hours of driving. While this chain has locations in Canada, they are located in Ontario, which means it’s much quicker to cross the border. Is it really worth the drive? We think so.
Address: 8810 36th Ave NE, Marysville, Washington
Shake Shack
Driving time: 2 and a half hours
A little further along, you’ll find Shake Shack. Known for its burgers and milkshakes (hence the name), this place recently opened its first Canadian restaurant in Toronto and has been drawing huge lineups. However, you’ll be able to get to the US one much faster.
Address: 8810 36th Ave NE, Marysville, Washington
Dave’s Spicy Chicken
Driving time: 3 hours
Dave’s Hot Chicken, another popular chicken restaurant, is just a three-hour drive away. That may seem like a bit of a stretch for some, but we’re sure dedicated fans will drive much further to get their hands on this much-loved chicken. Be sure to order this macaroni and cheese side dish when you go.
Address: 1200 E Pike Street, 2nd Floor, Seattle, Washington
Raising canes
Driving time: 6 hours
The last fried chicken restaurant on our list, Raising Cane’s, is arguably Chick-fil-A’s rival when it comes to chicken finger dishes. Those craving Raising Cane’s sauce will have to drive over six hours to get it. Is it worth the drive? We’ll let you decide.
Address: 12601 SE 2nd Cir, Vancouver, WA
In-N-Out Burger
Driving time: 7 hours
You’ll have to venture out of Washington if you want to try In-N-Out’s viral sandwiches. But for those who can contain their burger cravings, In-N-Out will be making an appearance at the Langley Good Times Cruise-In. But you may have to arrive early to secure your burger.
Address: 6280 Keizer Station Boulevard, Keizer, Oregon
