Taco Bell Launches New $7 Meal Combo

Taco Bell is introducing a new combo meal offering aimed at addressing the affordability of fast food as inflation continues to be top of mind for consumers.

The new limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box hits the Taco Bell menu Thursday. The meal includes a Chalupa Supreme, a beefy 5-layer burrito, a double stacked taco, chips and nacho cheese sauce, and a medium drink. The restaurant chain says the price of the combo is about 55% lower than the price of menu items purchased separately.

Many major fast-food chains have tried to address consumers’ concerns about pricing. Last week, McDonald’s began selling a limited-time $5 meal that includes a McDouble or McChicken sandwich, four pieces of Chicken McNuggets, small fries and a small soft drink.

Taco Bell’s new limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings box includes a Chalupa Supreme, 5-Layer Beef Burrito, Double Stacked Taco, Chips and Nacho Cheese Sauce, plus a medium drink.

Last month, Wendy’s began offering a $3 breakfast deal for an English muffin sandwich with seasoned potatoes, and Burger King launched the $5 Your Way Meal with a choice of three sandwiches, plus chicken nuggets, fries and a drink.

This isn’t Taco Bell’s first attempt to make its menu affordable, as consumers look for cheaper food options. The $5 Taco Discovery Box – a crunchy taco, a Doritos Locos taco, a Cantina Chicken crunchy taco and a medium drink – was available from April to June 4. In January, Taco Bell launched a new Cravings Value Menu with 10 items for $3 or less.

Since then, the prices of some of these dishes have increased slightly. But there are still 10 dishes under $3, Taco Bell North America marketing director Taylor Montgomery said in a statement to USA TODAY. “Our Cravings Value Menu is one of the best value menus in the industry…because we believe consumers shouldn’t have to choose between affordability and abundance,” he said.

With the new $7 Luxe Cravings Box, “we’re offering consumers our most coveted items at an affordable price and delivering on our commitment to value to satisfy cravings with fan-favorite full-size menu items,” said Montgomery said.
