Target baby food is recalled on contamination of lead

A company that makes baby foods sold under a target store brand recalls more than 25,000 packs of a product because it can contain high lead levels.

Fruselva, based in Miami, published the recall in March for the Baby Pea puree, zucchini, Kale & thyme of Baby Pea de Target, sold in 4 ounce baths, according to the US Food and Drug Administration.

The packages include lot 4167, with a better date of December 7, and number 4169 of the Lot, with a best date of December 9.

Consumers should not feed babies products.

The recall is listed as class II, which means that the products are unlikely to cause serious damage, but always have the potential to result from temporary or reversible problems.

There is no secure level of lead exposure for children, according to American centers for the control and prevention of diseases. Exposure to heavy metal can cause development and cognitive problems.
