The 101 -year -old nutritionist shares 7 tips for living a long and healthy life – health
A nutritionist who has reached the 101-year-old grande-age is still as fit and active, and has shared his best advice for living a long and healthy life.
Doctor John Scharffenberg of California was born in December 1923 and still lives an independent life at 101 years.
He drives, travels the world and manages his own YouTube channel, aptly named Viva Longevity!
The centenary increased the shoulders of the suggestion that his long life comes down to genetics and luck, because he survived his two brothers and said that his parents died of different health complications, his mother dying in sixty Alzheimer’s while his father died of a heart attack at 76 years.
So what does it recommend that we follow his traces?

Does not smoke
Dr. Scharffenberg says he has never taken cigarettes. As such, he highlighted tobacco high enough on his list of things to abandon if you want to live longer.
It is not a secret tobacco is bad for us, with the CDC warning that things practically harm each organ of the human body, improving the risk of diseases of cancer in diabetes.
Abandon alcohol
This could be a difficult pill to swallow, but the nutritionist said he was not drinking alcohol and did not slam the theory that a glass of wine per day is “good” for us.
Scharffenberg said all alcohol consumption, whatever the small size, increases the risk of cancer, which is supported by a cancer biologist who said that even a drink was hiking at the risk of deadly disease.

Reduce sugar consumption
According to the NHS, eating too much sugar can contribute to weight gain and dental caries, and Dr. Scharffenberg says that it often changes the recipes to cut the sugar.
One of his favorite adaptations is a recipe made by his wife which involves making waffles with oats and garnishing them with berries, cashew cream and bananas as opposed to a sweet syrup.
Gardening – or another activity
For the professor, maintaining physical form through exercise is the key to living longer which, according to him, may have distinguished him as well as his less active brothers.
And it should also not be particularly painful, a quick walk or gardening will do the trick because the DOC said that he used to cultivate a garden that extended two acres, cultivating thousands of strawberry, fruit trees and vineyards, which helped him stay in shape.
“I did everything by myself, so I did a lot of exercise,” he admitted. “I worked hard. Even if I am a nutritionist, exercise is even more important than nutrition.”

Scharffenberg added: “The time of life you get is what is important-the average age, from 40 to 70 years old. This is when you need it, because this is the time when people usually relax, have more money, buy more food, sit more, eat more (…) and it’s the wrong way to go.”
He also underlined a study which revealed that people who walk more than two miles per day have a mortality rate of half that of non-livers.
Keep a healthy weight
In the same spirit as staying in shape, keeping your weight in the healthy range is also a good idea.
To help, the 101 -year -old man said he believed in intermittent fasting where he will have breakfast and lunch, but will jump for dinner like some researchers say that practice helps manage weight and even reverse certain forms of illness, according to John Hopkins Medicine.

Reduce meat
Dr. Scharffenberg subscribes to the seventh day Adventist Church, which means that it follows a diet mainly based on plants which includes milk and eggs.
Vegetarian says he has been abstained from meat since he was 20 years old and prefers fruits and vegetables – especially mangoes, kakis, macadamias, nuts, seeds and potatoes.
Less saturated fat
Finally, he recommends eating less saturated fats, emphasizing one of his discussions: “The optimal diet is the vegetarian diet.
“I pray that you all live the good lifestyle.”
